FAIRBORN, Ohio (AP) - An Ohio firefighter-paramedic driving an overdose patient to the hospital needed rescue himself.
Fairborn Fire Department officials say the man wasn't seeing or feeling right, and his partner jumped to the front to stop the ambulance Thursday evening.
The partner then administered the overdose-reversing drug naloxone, and he drove the firefighter-paramedic and the woman they had been transporting to a hospital in Beavercreek southwest Ohio.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
Not sure exactly how that could have happened. Does not make sense. They wear latex gloves, thus any contact with the substance should not have been capable of entering his system.
I’ve heard the same about Fentanyl.
I think fentanyl can cause a reaction as well.
Yeah you know why? Because these MEXICAN drug gangs are mixing fentanyl with heroin which is 100 times more powerful than heroin. It is so lethal, that even running air where it was is enough to kill you. It killed a 10 year old in Florida last summer that way. It also a few weeks ago killed a father and son who were stupid enough to do that s**t. Just by snorting a small amount and they both dropped dead.

Yet we have slimebags trying to stop Trump every step of the way from building a wall. 60,000 people a year now dying from this stuff. Pre-Obama it was 15,000.
“Most heroin in U.S. now comes across Mexican border, Rob Portman says”....
Correct me if I’m wrong
Fentanyl is commonly administered as a dermal patch...
Correction incoming: Fentanyl is also able to be administered (fatally, even) by contact with the skin.
Your gung-fu is WEAK, old man!
Yep, that’s how this kid died.......

“Just 2 to 3 milligrams of fentanyl — equivalent to five to seven grains of table salt — is enough to cause respiratory depression, arrest and possible death”
Skin contact with fentanyl, or exposure to dust, can result in overdose.
Fentanyl is commonly administered as a dermal patch...
Yes it is, I had that for a while, but the dosage available directly from the dermal patch is relatively small. I'm only guessing, but the illegal stuff probably is a much higher dose.
Looks like Canada is going to be a problem too.

Fentynol. There are forms of it that will kill you faster than polonium, just by touching less than grain.
There is some bad sh!t out there. My daughter is a paramedic and her husband is a State Trooper. They have both seen it happen.
A Police Officer had an OD from brushing his uniform off, not knowing the white powder was fentanyl, earlier this year.
Just to add to that—carfentynol is an elephant tranquilizer. That’s the stuff that fries your brain in seconds.
Also, there are varying grades of fentanyl. Some of the OD cases in the Akron area involved heroin laced with a strength of fentanyl used to sedate big game (think elephants and giraffes) before surgery.
I am not familiar with fentanyl. It's a fairly new thing. It looks like you are correct.
With PCP, one can absorb the effects merely by coming into contact with someone under the influence through physical contact (sweat or inhalation).
I'm not sure that's the case with fentanyl. My quick research seems to indicate that coming into contact with the actual substance is necessary to suffer it's affects.
Tomato, tomahto.
And .02 or .03 mg of carfentanil could be fatal.
It's quite possible that this druggie had remnants of any of these drugs on her person and the paramedic contacted it.
