SUPERHUMANS: Chips inserted in brains will give us MIND-BLOWING abilities within years

SUPER HUMANS could exist in just 15 years thanks to a computer chip inserted into the brain to unlock the mankind’s full potential.

People will be able to buy new memories and delete unwanted ones in the near future as experts believe they are close to biohacking the body’s most powerful tool, according to a leading technology entrepreneur.

Speaking at Lisbon’s Web Summit, Bryan Johnson, the founder of Kernel – a start-up researching the possibilities of microchips being inserted on the brain – says unlocking the true potential of the mind is the “single greatest thing” humanity can achieve.

Kernel’s first step is to design chips that can help fight disease, but then it hopes to evolve the brain to offer superhuman abilities.

The firm’s website reads: “To further explore our own human boundaries, a wave of new technologies needs to emerge that can access, read, and write from the most powerful tool we have — the human brain.

“At Kernel, our primary aim is to develop technologies to understand and treat neurological diseases in new and exciting ways.

“We will then interpret the brain’s complex workings in order to create applications towards cognitive enhancement.”

Mr Johnson told the audience at Web Summit: “I would expect in around 15-20 years we will have a sufficiently robust set of tools for the brain that we could pose any question we wanted.

“For example, could I have a perfect memory? Could I delete my memories? Could I increase my rate of learning, could I have brain to brain communication?

“Imagine a scenario where I say ‘I want to know what it’s like to be a cowboy in the American west in the 1800s?’ and someone creates that experience mentally.

“I’m able to take that and purchase that from that person and experience that.”

When Mr Johnson was questioned on whether such technology could cause further divisions in society between those that do have a neural implant and those that do not, the founder of Braintree, which was sold to eBay for $800 million in 2013, said that he believes such technology will become “democratised, like smartphones”.

He said: “The bigger question on this is: ‘Is working on this a luxury or a necessity?’

“I don’t understand what we are so scared of losing?

“I don’t know why it would not be the singular focus of the human race because everything we do stems from our brain.”

Oh yeah, this should be perfectly safe. What could go wrong?

Maybe we could buy ‘customized memories’ of our night with some movie star or our trip to the moon.....................

So, does this involve human testing...and if so, how much do they have to pay folks?

Sheesh, is it even legal?

In the future:

Man #1: Remember when Hillary Clinton lost to Donald Trump, instead of being the first woman president?
Man #2: No.
Man #1: Funny, me neither.

I’m sure there would be a market for that but likely not as extensive as you’d think.

Would you rather “remember” being with Kate Beckinsake or would you rather experience being with someone? It’s not the same thing.

I think the bigger market for it won’t be buying memories. It’ll be deleting bad ones.

I see that as a bad idea, but I can understand it.

And some folks laugh at Bible Prophecy.

From “Got Questions”

Question: “What is the mark of the beast?”

Answer: The main passage in the Bible that mentions the “mark of the beast” is Revelation 13:15-18. Other references can be found in Revelation 14:9, 11, 15:2, 16:2, 19:20, and 20:4. This mark acts as a seal for the followers of Antichrist and the false prophet (the spokesperson for the Antichrist). The false prophet (the second beast) is the one who causes people to take this mark. The mark is literally placed in the hand or forehead and is not simply a card someone carries.

The recent breakthroughs in medical implant chip and RFID technologies have increased interest in the mark of the beast spoken of in Revelation chapter 13. It is possible that the technology we are seeing today represents the beginning stages of what may eventually be used as the mark of the beast. It is important to realize that a medical implant chip is not the mark of the beast. The mark of the beast will be something given only to those who worship the Antichrist. Having a medical or financial microchip inserted into your right hand or forehead is not the mark of the beast. The mark of the beast will be an end-times identification required by the Antichrist in order to buy or sell, and it will be given only to those who worship the Antichrist.

Many good expositors of Revelation differ widely as to the exact nature of the mark of the beast. Besides the implanted chip view, other speculations include an ID card, a microchip, a barcode that is tattooed into the skin, or simply a mark that identifies someone as being faithful to the Antichrist’s kingdom. This last view requires the least speculation, since it does not add any more information to what the Bible gives us. In other words, any of these things are possible, but at the same time they are all speculations. We should not spend a lot of time speculating on the precise details.

The meaning of 666 is a mystery as well. Some speculated that there was a connection to June 6, 2006—06/06/06. However, in Revelation chapter 13, the number 666 identifies a person, not a date. Revelation 13:18 tells us, “This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man’s number. His number is 666.” Somehow, the number 666 will identify the Antichrist. For centuries Bible interpreters have been trying to identify certain individuals with 666. Nothing is conclusive. That is why Revelation 13:18 says the number requires wisdom. When the Antichrist is revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4), it will be clear who he is and how the number 666 identifies him.

15-20 years? Forgive a bit of skepticism but we aren't anywhere near even modeling the data storage and retrieval that goes on in the human brain, much less manipulating it. Doesn't mean we shouldn't research it, but I don't think we're going to be seeing any enhanced cyborg brains walking around in the next 20 years.

“Imagine a scenario where I say ‘I want to know what it’s like to be a cowboy in the American west in the 1800s?’ and someone creates that experience mentally.

Be careful what you wish for. The Hollywood version might be pleasant, the real thing, not so much. How about what it would be like to be, say, Louis XIV? The Sun King, first monarch in all of Europe of the time, balls and gowns and every luxury imaginable? That'd also be the guy who had an abscessed tooth removed, the operator took a large piece of his jaw with it and drilled into his sinus and permanently disfigured His Majesty, and oh, did I mention this was all without novocaine? I'll pass on that one, thanks.

Our society is already in a sort of data retrieval experiment - access to the Internet has placed more power in that regard into the hands of individuals than any scholar ever had in the largest libraries in the world, ever. What are we doing with it? Cat pictures and porn. Well, and FR too, I suppose, there's that...
