Even if Trump was on the ballot he’d have as much chance of winning Virginastan as he would California.
The democrat got 71% of Hillary’s vote while Gillespie only got 55% of Trumps vote. If there was any message being sent its that the establishment Gop was being rejected and those in congress who are fighting Trump. The Gop congress has not delivered.

1,173,326 (Gillespie) divided by 1,769,443 (Trump) = 66.3%
Also, Gillespie beat Trump in percentage of total voters.

Virginia is a blue state due to Washington DC and its Virginia suburbs. A Republican National Candidate will never take Virginia again nor a governorship. Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania were blue states. They went red during the last election. If Trump can expand work and prosperity in our nation and in particular those three states they will be red states in the future.
