The chances of finding yourself in a mass shooting are minuscule. But that doesn't mean you don't have an inherent right to self defense.
A few hours after Sundays horrifying mass shooting in a Sutherland Springs Baptist church, a Fox News host asked the attorney general of Texas, Ken Paxton, As a country, what do we do? How can we get our arms around this and stop this insanity?
The only thing I know, because you cant necessarily keep guns out of the hands of people who are going to violate the law in Texas at least we have the opportunity to have concealed-carry, Paxton answered. And so if its a place where somebody has the ability to carry, theres always the opportunity that gunman will be taken out before he has the opportunity to kill very many people.
This comment, as youd expect, triggered incredulous reactions from gun-control advocates. If theres anything that gets anti-gun types worked up well, anything other than sending thoughts and prayers its the notion that a responsible gun owner can bring down a killer.

The anti-gunners are pretty crazy.
Even though that is exactly what happened in Texas - after the perp left the unarmed congregation bleeding on the floor.
You’re responsible for your own safety, and the safety of those in your care, like your family. It’s a pretty good idea to bring as big of a gun as you can carry with you everywhere you go.
Pants on - Gun on.
Would that not also be true in schools, sporting events, nightclubs, race tracks and all the other places where Texas, by law, prohibits you from carrying?
Yep - nearyl all these shootings occur in places the dems would deem to be safe because the sheeple are unarmed....
I always worried about the tomatoes.
I wish damned Yankee writers could learn that the only time the word “parishioners” is used is when referring to members of Roman Catholic churches that are organized by “parish”, a specific geographic area.
Each of those locations you cite have deep pockets to ensure the TX Legislature doesn’t go all crazy on them every two years.
Even Fox News for the most part is a bunch of bed-wetters.
First I’ll admit I didn’t read the article, but have been packing at Church for the last 20yrs. I will not let someone like that punk have open rein. Peter and the other disciples had swords on them.
I carry a gun everywhere but the Courthouse. If I can’t carry it, I don’t go there.
I’m in Church nearly every Sunday and Wednesday night.
The church I attended previously, the pastor said openly that if you have a CC permit, please carry. And if you’re an off duty cop, again, please carry.
Where I live now, they apparently have an ordinance that requires churches above a certain size to have off-duty cops on site.
I am of the opinion that we should use the selective service registration to accomplish a few basic common sense, defense of the nation type things:
1) open selective service registration to both male and female
2) require registrants to annually notify either their school or employer of their registration
3) require schools and employers to “close the loop” and notify the registration office of those who have registered and the skills that their current job / employment / degree requires
4) registration board conduct a background check and mark the records according to results found. Felony convictions require removal from the registration office
5) Put the National Guard in charge of providing annual training during the registrants birth month for battle field first aid, basic rifle M16 maintenance, rifle marksmanship and call up procedures
6) registrants to be provided with a $500 tax credit for the year(s) in which they are registered and receive training.
Those that fail to register would not be eligible for student loans or grants.
Those that fail to report for training would not be eligible for the tax credit and would be assessed a $500 tax
This is actually a very good idea. When a preponderance of people are trained to shoot, at the very least the paranoia about weapons will be reduced to almost nothing. And nutball shooters will have far fewer soft targets.
Why Bringing A Gun To Church Is A Pretty Good Idea
Amen to that!
My thoughts exactly.
Yep, I would agree to that.
i try to bring a gun EVERY where I go.
I do not go to bars and try my best to stay out of gub mint places that will not allow.
if you refuse to allow, I refuse to patronize.
