I think the kill shot happened before the car chase in the initial shootout. The dude drove until he bled out then ran off the road. Dead.
Most people are hyped up on this story right now but when dust settles I hope that is the way it played out.

true- but johnny followed the fella at high speeds- weaving in and out of traffic to keep up with him to report where the fella was going - and he did so knowing the killer had a gun
