A bird did that? Yeah right. Very easily my friend.
If the aircraft was "only" doing 250 knots (the allowed airspeed below 10,000 feet) and it was a 6 pound goose migrating South the energy of impact would be about 15,000 foot lbs. If at altitude and doing the normal cruising speed of 500 knots you are looking at 60,000 foot pounds of energy. If the aircraft was heading north and the goose heading south add a few more thousands of foot pounds to the impact force.

There’s actually a test for this using a “chicken gun” where a dead chicken or turkey is shot from a cannon at 400 to 500 mph at the radome or windshield to check for compliance with FAA standards for real bird strikes.

A little higher and the players would have had to land the plane themselves.No.
The aircraft is designed to take that impact on the windscreen at cruise speed without damage that would harm the crew. The random is of composite materials so as not to be opaque to their radar. It can be smashed much easier than the air frame. The radom is not part of the pressurized hull thus an incident such as this will not result in depressurization.
Boeing knows what they are doing.

A friend of mine was a “tin bender” in the Air Force. A pilot in transit to another base had a bird strike and landed. They did a quick and dirty repair so the pilot could get to his destination. The “tin bender” told the pilot that he only guarantees the fix for 250 knots!

Ouch!
I've had two bird strikes while flying helicopters @ < 130 kts.
Both 'got my attention' to say the least. The seagull on the nose of the CH-53 did no damage. The swift cracked the windscreen on a Jet Ranger at 3,000 AGL over Tanzania.
My big worry was hitting a Marabou stork and getting nailed to my seat back by its 14" long bill!

What caused this? Hellarys broom? She thought she was cleared for flight level "graft" but was actually assigned 10k. She went low.
