It does not matter if they are expensive or if you could go out and find another sort of like it for five bucks. It holds a special place in your heart and you automatically reach for it every time you make a dish where it would be useful.
Mine is a nine by nine stainless steel pan. It has held everything from cobbler to corn bread to shepard's pie and I would miss it greatly if something happened to it.
It was a gift from my mother on the occasion of my moving out on my own. She told me that with that pan, a couple of sauce pans and a frying pan I would be able to cook anything.
She was right.
It is the last thing packed in the kitchen and the first unpacked.
Take everything it the house but take my pan or knife, (homemade, found at a garage sale) and feel my wrath!
