The RNLI and coastguard teams put their lives at risk to rescue the man who was brought to shore unharmed
A windsurfer went into the sea in the middle of Storm Brian had to be rescued by the RNLI.
Waves higher than buildings smashed the Welsh coastline as wind speeds reached 75mph.
But the man took to the sea off the north-west coast of Wales and got into difficulty after his rig failed.
Abersoch RNLI launched its inshore lifeboat and the coastguard rescue team was scrambled after receiving multiple reports that a man had got into trouble in rough seas.
The rescuers found the windsurfer a few hundreds off Abersoch Beach, a few minutes after launching, the Daily Post reports.
Volunteers brought the man and his gear back to the lifeboat station and he was unharmed.
A spokesman for Holyhead Coastguard said the RNLI and coastguard teams were called out at 11.16am and stood down at 11.40am.
Always worried about rig failure, there is nothing left, no backup at all. I had a long walk at the lake. Lucky was not in the Atlantic.
This is the kind of reckless moron who should definitely have to pay all costs of rescue. He had people out risking their lives for him because he was too stooopid to stay out of the storm.
The "lake" was all of ~4 feet deep.
They still came back disappointed.
As a yute in the CG flying out of Miami we went out to find this kid that was sucked out to sea on a surf board during a storm. Cant recall if it was a Cane or just a good tropical but we found him in the Gulf Stream up around Ft Pierce and he went in off W P Beach.
We plucked him off his board and hoisted him up and after the ungrateful little bastard was inside he started ranting about us leaving his board in the drink.
We were all on the ICS with head sets and helmets and he couldnt hear anything but engine noise and the pilot said to us in the back if he wants his board so bad maybe we ought to shove him out to go get it.
He was still bitching when we dropped him of at PB International
They should have left this jackhole to rot in the sea.
Good men risking their lives for a congenital idiot. We shouldn't interfere with Darwinian evolution.
One day my brother and I went out on Lake St Clair in Michigan in his 16’ sailboat. Small craft warnings were issued. It was scary and fun. The only other vessels out were a 50 foot motor yacht and a guy on a windsurfer. He looked to be going 40 mph and only hitting the top of every fourth wave of so. He had to be really good.
