I’d rather watch KDramas than anything from Hollywood these days.

#22 “The Wild Bunch”
That is where William Holden and Ernest Borgnine and Strother Martin and Dub Taylor and Warren Oates sat around in a diner and talked about the good old days..... : )

#23 Director Howard Hawks:
Most of the leading men today, the younger men especially, are a little bit effeminate. There’s no toughness. [Steve McQueen] and [Clint Eastwood] don’t compare with [John Wayne].

Audiences today just want just want bubblegum SF: Star Wars, Abrams Trek, and superhero flicks. I think it is is a travesty that such an amazing grown-up classic-style SF film like Blade Runner 2049 is bombing so badly at the box office despite having the 88% RT rating (which I think it deserves). Note that the audience RT rating from those who have actually seen it is also quite high (82%).

Part of the problem, I think, is that today’s average Hollywood film goer will not sit still to watch a slow-paced 2 hour 45 minute SF film that requires you to think about what you are seeing. “Who needs a plot, dude? We want moar explosions!”

If nothing else go see BR2049 for the visuals (which are stunning) in IMAX before it disappears from theaters.

I was kind of enjoying the Marvel movies, but I hated Spider-Man. And, the Captain America actor proved to be an a-hole. I’m done.

I think the kind of audience who likes Blade Runner 2049, doesn’t enjoy going to theaters, they would rather wait until they can watch it at home.

I suspect soon, they will begin offering the option to watch first-run movies at home at a premium price, at the same time they come out in theaters.

Back in the day when I went to theaters, I judged a flick by how long it took me to start checking my watch. Now at home, I judge a flick by how long it takes me to wish all the characters were dead.

The flick needs IMAX treatment to do it justice, IMHO.

I was mildly interested in seeing it. Until I heard the first line of the trailer.

"Every civilization was build on the back of a disposable work force."

If I want to be preached at I will go to a DNC rally or watch the NFL.

Left wing crap, left wing crap, left wing crap. Even if a movie isn’t political at all, we suspect it will be. We’re tired of paying to be beaten over the head by people who hate us.

I was going to go see it before I heard it was promoting a bunch of left wing tropes.

I said "Nope. Not going to reward them with money if they put in left wing crap."

LOL. I have turned off a lot of movies and shows because of unlikable characters.

As far behind as we have become in my household, we can watch something from 2001 we haven’t seen before. It is like new, we can pause for potty breaks, and the wife to smoke a fag. Of course my 65” LG OLED tv doesn’t hurt matters much either.

The length is the reason I didn’t go see it. My friend who went said an hour could have been cut and not effect the story

Imagine the words Howard Hawks would use on today’s actors.

It is worth paying to AVOID being lectured by our moral superiors in Harveywood.

Home viewing systems are nice, but can’t beat a top of the line movie theater. Went to one the other week that had wide reclinable seats, drink and food service at the seats (Martini while viewing), and a BIG screen with outstanding surround sound stereo.

Kind of expensive at $17 for the ticket and $11 for the martini + tip. But a really nice way to watch a movie.

Hollywood has been pushing and peddling PC BS for decades now. It started out subtle back in the 60’s but now is blatantly in your face. It has become largely an anti-American, anti-white, anti-family, deviant sexual proposing machine.

I haven't been to a movie theater in many years. Went to one a few weeks ago. Reclining seats are nice, but the sound level was obnoxiously loud.

Wife wanted to see it so we did a dinner and movie date - it was dull and slow and whatever message they were trying to send got lost in the Thorazine shuffle....
