I was on flight where something similar happened, oxygen masks were deployed and a (male) flight attendant yelled, “get your oxygen, NOW” ....his voice was much too strained, he certainly did not maintain his composure in the flight emergency, but I suppose you can never fully train yourself for such events. Still, I have been in a variety of life-threatening emergencies and have been much steadier than that guy was!
It was a Continental Airlines flight over the Colorado Rockies, Denver to SLC, 1993. The pilot dropped the altitude very fast, like scary roller coaster fast, and I hoped that he would keep track of where all the 14er peaks were because we probably dropped under 14,000 ft pretty soon. We returned to Denver and they wouldn’t tell us anything about what happened, but I imagine it was either some actual depressurization problem or else simply a sensor going off.
Anyway, we survived fine but it was a bit scary until we were back on solid ground.
Did they ever give an explanation?
