Dynasty is back on television. Blade Runner is in theaters. And all your favorite synth pop bands from the 1980s, including Depeche Mode and New Order, have new albums.
As Generation X moves into wistful middle age, the new-wave hit makers of the MTV V.J. era are back and touring. Here are some new long-playing discs (also available for streaming!) that recall a time when all it took was an angular haircut and a Yamaha DX7 to rule the world.

The only thing gayer than 80’s music is Bruce Jenner.

In my opinion the eighties began with President Ronald Reagan, and this:

I want to hate New Order, they can be so self-consciously artsy. But, I loved Joy Division and so I loved New Order. Still do.

Hey, it may be my nostalgia, but I love me some synthwave music. Especially when cruising down the highway during a sunset.

How can we not?
I mean, an 80s icon is president! Let’s go all in.....just not the fashion.

The reboot Dynasty is epic turdness.

Hmmm.
Eighties.
Chris Rhea was at his peak.
Dire Straits.
Robert Cray.
Clannad.
Sade.
The Scorpions.
Gary Moore did some good work.
Fleetwood Mac had hit their stride.
Enya Brennan and Moira Brennan began to put things out.
Not.everything eighties sucked.
It just hasn’t been long enough to mind fog the bad music like it has for the fifties and sixties.

In the 80s, I had a Jazz show on WVGS, the Voice of GA Southern, but I also loved the alternative music of the time. The station had a subscription to Melody Maker magazine.
