I’m not Irish but it’s a fine song and I like it.

Civil War. Colorization makes it more real.

I spent nearly 2 years in Thailand during the Vietnam war. I traveled all over the country, as well as spending some time on Vietnam, all courtesy of the USAF. I came back with nearly a hundred rolls of Ektachrome slides. Within less than a decade they had all faded to complete blanks. I have no photographic record of my time there. I wish I'd spent a little more money and bought Kodachrome film instead.

Do you have a copy you can post? It's a thrill to get a photo like that. Some of my few really nice ones have disappeared, Warwick Castle and a girl walking by Burge Hall in Iowa City from the back framed by colorful trees are just a few oh the one of Maid of the Mist, American and Horshoe Falls on a perfect day. Maybe they weren't that good but I was happy with them.

I've been sorting my slides to have converted to digital. The cheapest way is I pay to rent those carousel cartridges and load them myself, plus I use my lens brush to dust each one front and back. I want to do the sizing and touch-up work and will have to just select a few for that.

Fall is one of the best time to take pictures. You could have taught me a thing or two back then but I was always impatient about some things. I think that's why my dad just turned me loose heh. He used a light meter. That was too much of a mystery for me.

OMGosh look what I found, didn't know it had hopped over to my present computer lol. I have some from other places, most not scanned, but this is the particular one that came to mind when I wrote what I did.

That's a shame. Some of mine are faded badly but some are almost as perfect (the keepers lol) as when I got them back from processing. I'm so sorry as that was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and time doesn't stand still.

An acquaintance from a photography group digitized all his photos from Vietnam; he's a professional photographer now. I don't know what camera he used then but all his were black and white.

I used to be able to post photos using Photobucket but they started charging so I quit using them.

Anyone know of any other free hosting sites which allow pictures to be uploaded?

I just use flickr but they are associated with yahoo which got hacked. For no more than I post these days, it suits me, signed up way before the hack, but the hack is affecting me in a couple accounts where I had to change my pw.

You might check Instagram. It's more geared for mobile use with the up down left right format which I find annoying but for a few single shot, it might work for you.

Used to have my own space but it was costing me about $45 a month, and I had way more space allocated than I was using; i.e., a waste of money.

I don't know if you can embed from facebook or not; I got off of that but if you are a member that might work.

Somebody might come up with a better answer. I signed up for photobucket long ago, never used it much and, like you, not gonna pay if I don't have to.

P.S. If you do decide to go with flickr, they give you the code (it's kind of cumbersome to organize and navigate imo). I have to chop off all but some of the center of the code to get it to work here, pretty intuitive. Think I tried using the url at the top, don't think it works.

Code they gave me:

< a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/44652973@N04/37383595060/in/dateposted-public/" title="New York Skyline">< img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4465/37383595060_15494bf803_b.jpg" width="830" height="523" alt="New York Skyline">

What I cut out of it for my post:

< img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4465/37383595060_15494bf803_b.jpg" width="830" height="523" alt="New York Skyline">

I had to stick some spaces in it so just the code would post.

“It’s a shame that photography was not invented until well into the 1800s. Would be amazing to have photographs of Colonial America or even Medieval Europe. Of course, that’s a ludicrous wish, but wouldn’t that be something.

It is why painting, sculptures, and other arts works are so important. Not because they have aesthetic qualities but they capture what photographs eventually could.

“Christmas in New York” is beautiful too. I believe Shillelagh Law wrote that very shortly after 9-11-01.

You’re welcome. Good luck! I screwed up the code a little but you get the idea.
