ESPN Host Compares Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones To A Slave Owner

On the same day that Jemele Hill was suspended from ESPN for tweeting about politics, another network personality, Michael Wilbon, compared Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to a slave owner.

Mr. Wilbon, co-host of “Pardon the Interruption,” took issue with Mr. Jones’ stance that players who do not stand for the national anthem before football games will not play.

“And the word that comes to my mind―and I don’t care who doesn’t like me using it―is plantation,” Mr. Wilbon said on Monday’s show. “The players are here to serve me, and they will do what I want. No matter how much I pay them, they are not equal to me. That’s what this says to me and mine.”

ESPN declined to comment on Mr. Wilbon’s remarks.

The take-a-knee protests roiling the NFL escalated once again on Sunday, when Vice President Mike Pence walked out of the Indianapolis Colts-San Francisco 49ers game, after 23 members of 49ers did not stand for the anthem.

Later that day, after his team’s loss to the Green Bay Packers, Mr. Jones told reporters that players who refuse to stand the anthem will be benched.

Given that we do not expect much in the area of intelligence from sports, or sportscasters.

But, good heavens, does ESPN have a patented “stupid” ray that they use to insure that their “dumb readers” are way way to the left of six sigma on the Bell Curve?

invite the players to quit if they don’t like the terms and feel they are being treated as slaves by the owners of the cowboy franchise. amazing how many of those players want to be working on that so called plantation.

Wow another Leftist ESPN reporter wanting to politicize the NFL.

That’s Disney for you.

Their CEO Bob Iger is probably going to run for President. So he is taking his shots.

Remember it was Bob Iger that fired his I.T. staff in Orlando, Florida and replaced them all with foreign workers in Orlando, Florida for some where around a 1/3 to 1/4 the cost.

Players and commentators are leftists. Fans are patriots. Something has to give.

In a work relationship the players are NOT equal to the owner! They are employees. Rich, spoiled, racist employees, but employees nonetheless. If they do not wish to follow the owners rules, then they can be traded or quit. I’m sick of these overpaid pricks who think they control the narrative on these issues.

Uh, if my boss tells me to shut up about politics (he does, or would) or clean the bathroom (even though I’m a VP of finance), I’d still do it. Does that make me a “plantation” person too (and everyone that works in corporate America?)?

The players are here to serve me, and they will do what I want.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I guess that is like saying

AS long as my name is on the bottom of the check, you will do my (legal) bidding.

or

This is my HOUSE, my RULES, I don’t care that you are 45, you are living in MY basement and I don’t want you disturbing MY WIFE(your mother) and I with a constant stream of people in and out of it.

If you have a ‘problem’ with that, I will loan you your first months rent so you can get the F out.

OH...don’t bother talking to your mother, SHE sent me down here and I agree with her.

Yes, except the “slaves” are grossly overpaid, live in multiple multi-million dollar mansions, wear 8 carat diamonds in their ears and drive $200,000+ cars.

..........and most of them are illiterate ghetto thugs who would be on welfare or in prison if they weren’t playing in the NFL.

Sorry all you black NFL spoiled thugs, you are ghetto trash and you will never get any sympathy from me!

ESPN is handing the cable and satellite companies, on a silver platter, the excuse they need to lower their package prices because their customers are not tuning in to hear this crap anymore. Pretty soon ESPN will be an affiliate of the BET Channel.

This is as dumb as the positions taken last spring by the student protestors at Evergreen State College.

Literally, it is just that stupid.

The Walt Disney Company owns ESPN...

They will either divest... or lose market share. Historically, Disney has always divested.
