The Irish post office, An Post, is to release a stamp immortalizing Che Guevara 50 years after his death at the hands of the Bolivian Army.

Long ago, Irish artist Jim Fitzpartrick created the iconic image of Guevara with his trademark cap, shaggy hair and piercing gaze transposed onto a red background. Now for the first time, it has been placed on a stamp.

The word ‘Éire’, the Irish word for ‘Ireland’, declares the stamp’s origins for all who care to Google it, and it costs one euro to buy. […]

Earlier this year, the Irish government issued an apology for displaying a picture of the revolutionary in Miami as part of an exhibition about the contribution of people with links to Ireland in South America. Miami is home to a huge Cuban American population, and as Che was a loyal comrade of the hated Castro brother, the poster caused uproar locally. […]

Considering community sensibilities, it might not be a great idea to send any letters to Miami with the stamp on. …

Oh, I dare anyone from Ireland to send a Che stamp to someone in the Florida Cuban community. Double dare, even.

Che Guevara was a Marxist who loved tyranny and terrorism.

What is unbelievable is the degree to which the truth about this evil murdering bastard has been whitewashed, sanitized and now glorified by an official government entity. Shakes head.

No wonder the Left loves him.

What gets me mad is that Jim Fitzpatrick is the same guy involved in some album covers for Thin Lizzy.

If France was doing this, I’d understand. They never forgave us for liberating them. But Ireland? What did we ever do to them? If they’re trying to give the English a smack, it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Of course, their decision to sit out WWII didn’t, either.

Really stupid thing for Ireland to do. Headshake.

Che was El Jefe’s executioner. How any idiot can wear his image blows my mind.

What is wrong with Ireland? They have become such a huge disappoint lately in their hard lurch to the far left. Now they lionize communism? So sad. What a waste.

I think some of what is happening in Ireland is a reaction to a lot of the clerical abuses that were uncovered during the past 30 years. For many, this discredited Christianity, and gave free reign to all those evils which even a flawed Christianity is able to temper.

Ireland the land of beautiful girls and some kind of inborn stupidity.

I remember Ira Einhorn, probably the most disgustingly evil man ever, fled to Ireland. All he had had to do was say that the CIA was persecuting him. The Irish then fell all over themselves trying to help him.

The Irish and Scots are basically the same people yet the Scots score much higher on IQ tests. That is true but I wonder if the Irish stupidity is starting to infect Scotland too.

That’s the way they were starting to go in the Easter Rising, under communist leaders such as James Connolly. Pity that the true history gets buried sometimes under all the propaganda.
