I entered the Army Band fresh out of High School and served with the 62nd (late 1970’s) when they were stationed in Ft. Bliss, TX. I learned a huge amount regarding music, performance, rehearsal procedures and techniques, as well as simple things like getting to work on time and being responsible with money. I'm getting to that stage of live when so many of the formative things in my life are going away; it is very disheartening to see the ending of this military institution that was my first real job. May the current members of the 62nd have a wonderful and memorable final year.
