FORT HUACHUCA — As part of approved changes to the Department of the Army's overall music support structure and due to ongoing reduction in personnel and music support capability, the band will no longer accept new requests for music support for off-post and community events effective Oct. 15, 2017.

The U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps Band (62nd Army Band) will inactivate no later than Oct. 15, 2018.

The MI Corps Band will continue to provide music support to events currently on the commitment calendar through December 2017.

Music support for military events on post and memorial or funeral support will continue through FY 18 on a limited basis as long as the band has music capability strengths with the musicians assigned in order to present the high-caliber performances demanded of the Army Music Program.

An inactivation ceremony is tentatively scheduled in conjunction with the Military Intelligence Hall of Fame Week in June 2018.

New requests for music support for on post, military events should be directed through the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security at 520-533-2294.

I entered the Army Band fresh out of High School and served with the 62nd (late 1970’s) when they were stationed in Ft. Bliss, TX. I learned a huge amount regarding music, performance, rehearsal procedures and techniques, as well as simple things like getting to work on time and being responsible with money. I'm getting to that stage of live when so many of the formative things in my life are going away; it is very disheartening to see the ending of this military institution that was my first real job. May the current members of the 62nd have a wonderful and memorable final year.
