Depends on what “most technologically advanced” means. If we are talking devices, sure Apple is a player. Their tech is anything but first to market or innovative. Not one thing they do now is revolutionary, from screen tech to facial recognition they are a “me too” company. The iPhone 8 is a major disappointment with most of the tech articles I have read. It’s warmed over 6-12 month old “innovations” in a poor crafted phone.

Now you have to see what Microsoft has been quietly doing. They own the world of software innovation right now. Cloud computing, geo-fencing, machine learning, business intelligence, petabyte data storage with faster access than your 10 year old SQL blade server. I have never seen such exciting times when it comes to real innovation. The iPhone is a nice gadget, but without the infrastructure and computing power to support 100’s of millions of concurrent users accessing Facebook in the cloud, it’s really just an iPod. Apple is to technology what Toyota and Honda were to cars in the 70’s through the 90’s , solid, dependable and marginally innovative. But an innovative giant...umm no they are not.

“Depends on what “most technologically advanced” means.”
Indeed!

I don’t see Lockheed or Raytheon even listed in this Apple PR drivel for the slack-jawed.

Warmed over tech, eh? What do you the iCloud is? How about the Neural Engine inside ever iPhone 8 and X? Fastest mobile processors in the world. Nothing from Apple's competitors come anywhere close. Poorly crafted? Not from the reviews I've read. Rave reviews but questioning who the 8 is targeted toward. For me, that's not a question as it's selling out. The people it's targeted toward are the upgraders who don't need the cutting edge that is coming in the iPhone X.

Apple's 3D FaceID facial recognition is just "me too?" There is nothing out there that is like it. Samsung's facial recognition can be defeated by a photograph. Apple's cannot be defeated with any photo, 3D representation, or even the dead body. . . or even the living person who owns that iPhone who doesn't look at the iPhone with the intent of unlocking it. The iPhone uses a neural network processor that no other mobile platform has. . . capable of doing 600 Billion calculations per second. The data processor in the iPhone 8 and X are turning in bench marks that are the equivalent of the bench marks of the Intel i5s in the MacBook Pro. That is impressive in a cellular phone. As I said, nothing in the competition is anywhere CLOSE. That is NOT "warmed over 6-12 month old 'Innovations,' pburgh01, no matter how much you hold your breath and wish they were.
