CNN Anchor: NFL Owners Have Data That Support Trump’s Claim on NFL Protests Hurting TV Ratings

CNN host John King said Sunday that NFL owners have data supporting President Donald Trump's claim that television ratings have gone down because of players' protests during the national anthem.

"NFL owners so far siding with their players for their right to free speech, but they're also keeping close tabs on the financial impact and the public relations impact of this confrontation," King said.

He went on to say that the NFL owners have research "clearly showing the president is right" when he claims the national anthem protests are one factor in TV ratings dropping.

"Since the president weighed in, the owners are now dealing with a surge in ticket holder requests for refunds," King said.

Why don’t they just change their name to the Black Lies Matter Football League (BLMFL) and be done with it.

Honest is the best policy. At least people would know what they are buying into.

One factor causing a surge?

Yea, right!

Didn't the Ivy League MBA schools teach our elite CEOs that pissing on your customers is a poor business model?

One of the enjoyable moments and any sports event is the singing of the National Anthem. It’s corny, but sweet.

We learned the meaning of the words in grade school and sang it once a week in class. When a breeze touches your face during the anthem, you’re reminded of a lifetime of doing this same thing in the same way.

It’s one of the pleasures of being an American.

Sure, another factor might be people are sick and tired of all the BLM bs. Maybe they’re sick of all the felons beating their gfs, being hopped up on drugs, etc. Maybe the fans of fed up with having to fork over a month’s income to got to a game. Maybe they’re just tired of punks and their mouths. There’s a long list of factors.

The biggest thing wrong with the NFL is that it is impossible for every team to lose.

Look at Jerry Jones showing solidarity with his players last week. He is worth something in the vicinity of $5B, most of which came from the ownership of the Cowboys. When he sides with the players it is because they have very expensive contracts, and the incentives to have the team do well (reach playoffs and beyond) are huge. Alternative to that short term consideration is the brand value of the team. That has taken a hit, but as an owner he is protecting against player discontent which could lead to them tanking a season, and accepting a diminution in brand value, which he assumes will be smaller in magnitude and only temporary. I think he could be wrong, and when he sees how much the decline in brand value is he may change his tune.

I would prefer that people respond to such issues on principle, but, it's his team. His initial position is a concession to the ability of disaffected players to lay down and not try during a given season. If the ratings stay down or continue to decline, he's going to have to measure the hurt and re-evaluate. In the meantime I am outta here as an NFL fan. Gone.

I'm confused. Did Trump nosedive the numbers or did the leftist radical BLM protests against the entire nation bring down ratings?

Trump is amazing. He is better than a crystal ball at knowing how Americans feel on any subject. He has been incredibly consistent at making a so-called controversial statement, getting blasted for it by the left, and then being proven right. I’ve lost track of how many times.

People assume that wealthy liberals will throw tons of money into the entertainment industry, however, many middle class customers also makes a lot of money, or costs you money, as well.

Leftists have hated football for years and have tried to kill it several ways before this.

They went after the players as spouse abusers and spread the lie that domestic abuse is highest during the Super Bowl than any other time of the year. That was repeated over and over, but was false.

They went after the Redskins and Chiefs as racist cultural appropriators.

They went after the game over concussions and other injuries.

None of that worked.

Then 2 years ago Missouri’s football team showed the path. There were some false flag ‘racism’ incidents on campus (the infamous poop swastika and KKKers a black student leader saw - that nobody else did). That led to protests and a university president not caving into demands.

So the activists went to the black football players and told them to join in and threaten to strike. They did. The coaches were forced to back their players.

The university caved and fired the school president.

This all later resulted in 30%+ decline in freshmen, minority enrollment went down from 10 to 6 percent. But none of that mattered. The path was made clear.

The weak link in football are the players. Poorly educated, inner city, easy to manipulate.

The next year the player weak link was exposed when Colin Kapernick at first didn’t stand for the anthem and then ‘took a knee’ during the anthem. He made clear this was over racism, police killing black people, and America being a terrible country. Now they tell us it has nothing to do with any of that.

Today Cam Newton did a black power / communist raised fist salute after scoring a touchdown.

Now that the SJW (who hate football and aren’t fans of the game) have co-opted it for their purposes, we’ll see a continued decline in support.

But this was PLANNED and this is what they have wanted for years: to kill a sport they see a ‘toxic’ masculinity, that rewards achievement, that’s color blind, that features flag waving, military jet flyovers, and the national anthem.

They act as if this is a big surprise. It possibly could be the elite cluelessness (”Why aren’t I 50 points ahead?!”). More likely it’s them accomplishing what they wanted to do - killing football.

Idiot writer. No one is trying to take away the player's right to free speech. They still have free speech, otherwise they'd be in jail. But other people have rights as well, so tickets sales and ratings are down, way down.

IF.... we can just hold.

The teams have to be easily wealthy enough to hold out for a few weeks to see if we are going to hold the line stay bound together to shut the NFL OFF.
