I moved from Seattle (my home of 46 years) to Kentucky six years ago. I was a costco member since 1988 and we spend the lion’s share of our money there. The closest was the Southcenter/Tukwila store.

One thing we noticed in KY when we first went to the Louisville Costco was the “whiteness” of the crowd. It was tangible. It’s just where we shop now, as we did in Seattle.

Fast forward six years.

This summer we were visiting family and friends in Seattle and during the trip stopped by that old Costco store for some stuff. There were almost no white people to be found. It was amazing. We actually started “seeking them out” and were stunned by them being not only a minority, but a SMALL minority of the customers.

I don’t care what race people are, but I very much care about what culture they are. I get along with people “like me”, and that is because we are the same culture. Race may or may not play a part in it, but I felt like I was in a foreign country at that costco. Kinda like the Renton Wal-Mart, which feels like a third world country.

I went to Louisville several years ago - a really pretty city but there was a carjacking right outside our gorgeous b&b. I guess it has been a victim of white flight.

I can’t help but wonder why black people are in our faces now EXCEPT for obozo’s instigation at such, so I guess I have my answer. Have WE ever been in black’s faces? I’ve been around a long, long time and wherever I’ve lived from NY state to CA to GA, everyone has pretty much minded their own business. NOW, we can’t go a day without seeing some obnoxious, loud, filthy mouth black person (usually a female) climbing our tree about something that has offended them. They appear as if they were raised in a jungle. Certainly not in a home where there were any values taught. Where is their pride? What happened to “BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL”? It’s sure not any longer when we have to put up with being attacked just for being white. This NFL garbage has to be the last straw. I don’t see how it can ever be reversed.

I shop in a grocery store where there are lots of black employees and for the most part, they are courteous, civil and polite but I can’t help but wonder, “are these individuals some who would take to the streets burning shops etc.?” I think they are being polite to retain their jobs but do they hate us? Can’t help but have these thoughts as I’m watching them ring up my groceries. Sad place to be but I didn’t create the climate! Can it change? I think it’s gotten too far out of hand. Of course, it’s not just blacks - we have only to look at the protests the day of President Trump’s inauguration. Too much hate for surviving as a country much longer!
