No, they were on duty, not attending the funeral in Roseville. The officers were shot in south Sacramento about 20 miles away. Sorry for the confusion.

If you read the article you can see a map, which pinpoints the shooting location as very close to a police station. It’s in a part of Sacramento that a number of “gang list” websites identify as the turf of the “Franklin Boys”, a Hispanic gang.

It takes a lot of guts to be a good cop.
What is with Sacramento? Seems like every few days there are several police being shot, sometimes killed. I was there last week, flying in/out of their airport. Frequently visit. Too bad my 2nd amendment rights stop at the border. Gives pause for future visits, except to drive through, without stopping, without spending my money in their city.
