Northern Routes Out OF Houston
Self/Freepers ^ | 8-28-2017 | Self

Posted on 08/28/2017 7:07:46 PM PDT by foundedonpurpose

It has come to my attention that Hwy 45 north is closed. Also Hwy 59/69 North may be effected by spring creek. Can any Freepers verify the situations with these road systems, as they are effecting late evacuation orders (and Freepers). Also Bay City is under evacuation order as of tonight. If all the northern exits are closed, these people will have to be air lifted out.

I am not there, please advise as you are able with real time updates. We have to help these people get out if possible.

Regards! Founded

Lot's of stories. What is open road wise. The reservoirs that they are opening plus the new evacuation orders only work if we have working roads. Please update!

Have you checked out the Google Crisis Map? It’s impressive. It has real-time data collected by lots of users and Waze users. You can zoom in and see road closures. I can’t vouch for how accurate the data is, but it’s a starting point.

Google map it.

My aunt lives in Spring. I45 is to the west and it is closed about there. Don’t know how current google maps is though.

A useful tool is “Houston Traffic” a Google Maps overlay.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Houston,+TX/@29.9518945,-95.7282254,9.25z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x8640b8b4488d8501:0xca0d02def365053b!8m2!3d29.7604267!4d-95.3698028!5m1!1e1

It is showing 45 as being open north of the Woodlands. Hardy looks even worse. than 45.

10 east is blocked, and 59/69 north is blocked in multiple places, it appears.

290 is blocked for at least a week,

According to the waze mapping, I45 looks closed from just someways above FM1960. But FM1960 east bound looks open, and if it were taken across to FM69, it looks like FM69 is open north from there. One caveat - the Hardy Toll road intersection with FM1960 looks closed - hope the map is right and FM1960 is not also closed at that point. Some of the major avenues east of I45 & below Fm1960 look open north bound also.

Thats why I posted about the closure south of the Woodlands. To help people get out, not get stuck. Asking for info on the ground.

Spring is a rough spot. Stuck between Springs Creek and Cyprus Creek. Levee on Cyprus about to fail. Springs has flooded 45.

Make sure you click on ‘current traffic and speeds’ to actually pick up the road closures which don’t appear on the base map.

sorry about my previous reply

yes, I-45 north is open northbound but it looks like only from just above Greenspoint, and then closed for a stretch again above FM1960 . I used this google maps link

After reading all of the posts I have not seen 249 mentioned. You may want to check to see if it is open. 249 can be accessed at Beltway 8 North.

249 also crosses Spring Creek. Just have to hope that stays open.

Thanks for the link. I have relatives in Kingwood, so I’m very concerned.
