A Brooklyn woman whose beloved dog was gunned down by cops claims she was nearly shot herself during the March incident.

Laura Stephen said she was just three feet away from her “life partner,” a Catahoula mix named Ziggy, and trying to leash him when he was killed. She alleges that the officer fired without warning and falsely claimed the dog had charged him.

The dog was simply responding to her call after she had briefly let him off leash,

I don’t know what it is about cops shooting dogs. Don’t they worry a dog owner will hunt them?

If someone shoots my best friend I’ll destroy stuff as fast as I can -

and it won’t be pleasant.

I had a county sheriff pounding on my door and shining a flashlight through the window beside my front door and yelling at about 4 a.m. in the middle of winter here in the Colorado Rockies. My dog was going crazy due to the police man’s actions. He was yelling police so I put on a trench coat over my skivvies and grabbed mu Mossberg 500 that had my winter load of three 3-inch 00 buck followed by 3 slugs.

This cop was shining his flashlight mainly on my dog. I had my right arm inside the trench coat on my shotgun. I just cracked the door and the sheriff deputy rather rudely asked about a car off the side of the road in the snow. I told him I did not know the car and he kept watching my dog and continued to question me.

Thoughts: He could have called in the car tag instead of confronting me at 4 a.m.. He did not realize that if he made a move toward his gun with his nasty attitude and focus on my dog I would have blasted him. Three inch magnum 00 Buck to the face. Some cops are really stupid.

“Don’t they worry a dog owner will hunt them?”

I think it probably happens but doesn’t get reported as such.
