Gibbs used to be SUCH a strong character. I still love the earlier seasons. This Leonard Cohen song is wonderful for him because it's such a strong story song that works perfectly for Gibbs.

You start with a piece of music and identify a music phrase. Then you find a piece of video that presents an interpretation of the poetry in the lyrics. You look for a final, ending motion of the video and backtime to get a clip of the same length as the music phrase and overlay the black video with the new clip. Continue every 2-4 seconds usually. However, in the case of a song like Elements by Tom Lehrer, for NCIS, you cut a LOT more often.

I currently work in Premier, though most of the videos were made in Avid.
I’m an avid fan. Watched from the beginning. Being a visual learner I got lost in the clips and stopped listening. You must have tons of fun making them. Thanks!
I do have so much fun with them, Hulda. Most of the videos are heavily layered. If you know the show well, you’ll find that the clips match the lyrics in multiple ways. In the Blakes 7 vids I was able to find clips from episodes whose names were in the lyrics. I had a reason for every single clip in Elements. Part of the fun is analyzing why each clip is used. Husband gets annoyed that I get so excited trying to explain all the meanings, but that’s so much of the fun of it for me. And there’s things that the viewer finds in the interpretations that I didn’t see until I’m shown. Mother always claimed that an artist only makes half of the painting. The viewer creates the other half. Vids are like that, with so much to discover.
I’m an avid “pictures are worth 1000 words” so actually your videos should be interpreted as such without me having to try to listen and watch at the same time! After I finish my latest NCIS binge (all) I will watch your videos. As the clips passed I remembered the episodes. :) I felt like a dog with its head out the car window getting billions of different scents within minutes!
You’re inspiring me to go back and binge watch, too. Love the first season!
