Scott Bakula lost me with Quantum Leap, and I can’t watch him in anything now. Picard WAS often idiotic, but what would you expect when he had Troi watching everything he said. Give me Quark from DS9 anytime. I’m very fond of the Star Trek remake with Chris Pine. They pulled a very good cast together and I forget very quickly that they aren’t the real thing.

A lot of Trekkies would say the JJ version is too great a departure from the original series. After all, JJ himself said he didn't even like Star Trek. He claimed it was too 'sciency' and he couldn't follow it. He's more a Star Wars fan, and said that he tried to make his own Star Trek movie more like Star Wars, which to most Trekkies is a big no-no. Personally I'm a fan of hard sci-fi, which you can only really get in books, not movies or TV. There is already too little science in popular sci-fi, so there's no reason to remove even more.

DS9 was probably my favorite series, however. Quark and Garak being good characters, and Jadzia one of my favorite space babes. It was rather disappointing that she married Worf, however. Even more so when she quit the series to be in that stupid Becker show.
