Wasn’t The Shadow Riders based on a Sacketts novel by Louis L’Amour?
Oh, that would’ve been lovely! A great memory. :)
Louis L’Amour wrote the novel The Shadow Riders was based upon, but it wasn’t a Sackett story. You’re probably thinking of the mini-series “The Sacketts”, in which both Selleck and Eliott played major roles. We didn’t know how good we had it back in the late 70’s and early 80’s when they were making a bunch of those good mini-series. I’d sure like to see The Sacketts and Centenial again.
PBS gets very little of its funding from the Fed. They could easily make up for it with some mild advertising.
Well Burns is obsessed with race and not class.
Doesn’t matter. The Constitution gives the feds no authority to interfere with channels of communication.
PBS operates on electromagnetic spectrum taken from the free market. The feds funnel large amounts of money to local stations that aren’t included on ‘PBS’ funding. Much of the their programming is funded through the National Endowment for the Humanities and National Endowment of the Arts. They do not pay the taxes that a free market competitor would. PBS couldn’t exist with the feds.
#9 Sam Elliot is on a tv show called ‘The Ranch’ on Netflix. Really bad. He has not aged well. They showed him in his skivvies and whoa you will need eye bleach.
Found this in my collection; knew it would be appreciated!
“Who are those guys!?”
Truly a classic movie for the ages.
I was 7 years old and I still remember my parents raving about it when they went to see it at the theater at the time.
The Burt Bacharach score made it complete.
