Death Wish 1974 was a fantastic movie.

Think about what a $hithole NYC was at the time.

All kinds of crime.

Until Giuliani cleaned things up, it wasn't much better until the 90s or so.

And to think that there are NYC residents who still hate him for fixing decades of liberal policing.

Bloomberg sucked, but he kept Rudy's policies in place.

DeBlasio is trying to take NYC back into the sewer.

I'm glad they are setting the modern Death Wish in Chicago.

Much more plausible.

NYC, though markedly larger, is still safer than Chicago.

I think the original DEATH WISH with Charles Bronson beat Eastwood’s DIRTY HARRY MOVIES by a year or two and there was scattered snowflake reaction back then, but not so much in Hollywood where the old time moguls still held power and loved the boffo box office.

I will pass this favor on that I got from a movie thread here about a year ago.

Although not a vigilante film, if you like 70s films you owe it to yourself to watch cult film The Warriors (1979).

If nothing else a great use of NYC as a backdrop. Yeah a bit cheesy, but imagine watching it in 1979.
