'Still drunk from yesterday': Sports fan signs so comical they deserve their own medal

Sport revolves around competition.

And if there was a contest for the most inventive fan signs ever spotted in the crowds, we'd have ourselves some strong contenders here.

One Chicago Cubs fan at a baseball game in Illinois kept it nice and simple - and brutally honest - with her placard, emblazoned with the phrase: 'Still drunk from yesterday.'

As for the man in California who appears to be an expectant father, he's certainly skirting the line when it comes to his loyalties with the sign: 'Honey - call me when your water breaks. Go Angels!'

And did the spectator peering over a fence outside a sports stadium have any idea he was also standing over a large arrowed sign bearing the words: 'Too cheap to buy tickets'?

The winner here is for you to judge, as MailOnline Travel rounds up some of the most amusing fan signs ever held aloft.

It’s good to see people still having fun in the summertime.
This is spontaneous and hilarious.

I saw my son (an LSU grad) on national television with a sign that read “Nick Saban showers at Penn State”.

He says someone gave him the sign as they walked into the stadium.

You don't necessarily need a sign.

"He thinks they are number one in the nation."

Years ago, I remember a televised NY Giants (football) game from The Meadowlands in NJ, and there was a guy in the seats near the corner of the end zone that just said "Jimmy Hoffa" and had an arrow pointing down!
