Shoulda stopped 2nd wave feminism then.

But then again, our great grandparents should’ve stopped the first wave.
“It may be inferred again that the present movement for women’s rights will certainly prevail from the history of its only opponent: Northern conservatism. This is a party which never conserves anything. Its history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation. What was the resisted novelty of yesterday is today one of the accepted principles of conservatism; it is now conservative only in affecting to resist the next innovation, which will tomorrow be forced upon its timidity and will be succeeded by some third revolution; to be denounced and then adopted in its turn. American conservatism is merely the shadow that follows Radicalism as it moves forward towards perdition. It remains behind it, but never retards it, and always advances near its leader. . . . Its impotency is not hard, indeed, to explain. It is worthless because it is the conservatism of expediency only, and not of sturdy principle. It intends to risk nothing serious for the sake of the truth, and has no idea of being guilty of the folly of martyrdom. It always when about to enter a protest very blandly informs the wild beast whose path it essays to stop, that its “bark is worse than its bite,” and that it only means to save its manners by enacting its decent role of resistance: The only practical purpose which it now serves in American politics is to give enough exercise to Radicalism to keep it “in wind,” and to prevent its becoming pursy and lazy, from having nothing to whip. No doubt, after a few years, when women’s suffrage shall have become an accomplished fact, conservatism will tacitly admit it into its creed, and thenceforward plume itself upon its wise firmness in opposing with similar weapons the extreme of baby suffrage; and when that too shall have been won, it will be heard declaring that the integrity of the American Constitution requires at least the refusal of suffrage to asses. There it will assume, with great dignity, its final position.”

It looks like this paragraph would’ve been published in 2017 but was actually published in 1897!

The controlled cuckservative opposition has been around for awhile!

A friend and I discussed this just last night. He sees problems with his employees. They have zero life experience or skillls, but are really good at video games. Which basically makes them worthless.

I had an amazingly similar experience in 1981 while in college. Roommate had an early Apple computer with a very similar game, don’t recall the name but it was a very similar premise, making decisions on resources and building in ancient Egypt with consequences for decisions when unanticipated things happened. I was in college, but hooked on this game one night and kept playing all night until I noticed the birds singing and it was daylight outside - had been going for nearly 12 hours nonstop. That was it for me. Put the game away and swore off computer / video games for the rest of my life.
I have two boys - both of them have had troubles controlling the time they use these games. One is over it, the younger still struggling.

Looks like this author’s real problem isn’t men enjoying video games... This author’s real problem is that men are beginning to refuse to become slaves to women!

Exactly. Increasing numbers of men are deciding that they are not interested in marriage. Why slave for years to pay off a nice house in the suburbs, only to have your wife grab it when she divorces you?

A man who has no need to please or impress women can live just fine on part-time work.

Not much into video games myself. But I have to admit to spending way too much time here on FR.

As my Mom (God rest her soul) would say, “Why don’t you quit playing on the computer and go outside?”

This is why the natural opponent of leftism is not conservatism, but nationalism and individualism.

A nationalist is someone who wants to look out for the interests of his own people, ahead of the interests of people who are not of his nation. Someone who wants to ensure the welfare of HIS OWN children above others.

A globalist is someone who declares that this is immoral, that it is wrong to care more for your own people than for "refugees" from an alien culture, who will feel no gratitude or loyalty towards their new host country.

Fallout 3 is AMAZING !

Just about near the end of Point Lookout.

Bethesda rocks. Can’t wait to try FO4. But I need a better GPU for that.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is amazing too. But again, need a better GPU. Soon hopefully. Just built an 8core AMD box with 16g of RAM and an SSD. After GPU it will be an amazing gaming box.

As a mom, my only son is addicted to gaming.. but he has never been in trouble and he isn’t paying child support at 23.. women these days, nasty. I support his habit as a way to avoid marrying a woman who will never put family first and never make self sacrifices.
New girlfriend. . No problem.. when COD comes out, she will be gone.
I say that and my husband plays COD every year when it comes out, then he’s bored with it, no other game..
And this year it’s epic Ww2 COD.. I will be playing along too. Can’t beat em, join em.

I still play Eve Online, with it’s murderous learning curve and lack of twitch-muscle play. It actually helps me keep the mental gears oiled because of the complex problem-solving involved with it’s “spreadsheets in space”.

I have enjoyed video games since the days of Pac-Man in the arcades. And I've owned an NES and an Xbox 360. But I had never seriously thought of myself as capable of being an addict.

Then one terrible, terrible night I installed Fallout 3.

That's 140 hours of my life I'll never get back...

“Accomplished women are going to discover the competition for male peers even tougher than it is today, when there are about three women for every two men enrolled in college.”

...and look at the bright side, we can FINALLY quit complaining about how unfair it is that MEN get all the access to higher education, recreational sports, and great STEM careers. Video games saved us from the men!!!

The writing and creativity that go into games like Fallout and Grand Theft Auto (to name just a few) are often genius level and LoL hilarious. WAAAAAY better than what’s on the boob tube. Much rather give my entertainment dollars to Video Game companies instead of TV, Movies, or professional sports.

The Fallout franchise is fun and has a fanatical following. The Fallout games all have bugs, graphical glitches, etc that are maddening. However, players are mostly forgiving of this because they aren’t there for the the gameplay as much as they are for the story itself. I have played FO3,4, and New Vegas (do get NV, you’ll love it if you like good storytelling) and enjoyed all on their merits.

Anyone who claims that video games are a thorough waste of time, I have but one word in response:

BioShock.

The original. Although BioShock 2 was also pretty good (and BioShock Infinite doesn't exist in my dojo).

BioShock wasn't a video game. It was deep narrative storytelling of a whole new grade. When you come upon a smuggling den and find that the goods being illegally brought into the city are Bibles, you know something is different.

BioShock is a morality tale about what man is capable of doing in the complete and conscious absence of a belief in God. And it is not pretty.

BioShock will probably also go down as the first game to have an LGBT character. Sander Cohen: the flaming (LITERALLY) homosexual. And he's not portrayed as being the sanest of sorts.

“maybe the feminists will stop whining about the so-called gender pay gap”

I can barely tell the difference between the young men and the young women anymore anyway.

Golf, gardening, computer games, TV sports, tennis, woodworking, yoga, TV crime shows, restoring cars, garage sale shopping, reading romance, science fiction or mysteries. Which one is morally superior?

If my wife came to me and asked “Do you want to play Battlefield 4 or have sex?”, I would turn the game off and never go back.
But a video game always says “Yes”.
