And which one of us DIDN'T have a Great Big AMERICAN Car?

One of my favorites.... They're singing about my 1975 Pontiac Bonneville... 200 bucks, 46K miles, and CLEAN...

Sigh... I miss those days.

I had some amazing cars when I was young including my all time favorite 1955 Chrysler Imperial. That car was incredible.

My dad bought a brand new 1970 Eldorado for $9,702.05 in 1970. It cam standard with a 500 C.I., 425hp engine. They didn’t make them any bigger than that.

I remember hearing about them for the first time back in 1984. I was working for the summer in Pottstown, PA, and they had just been signed to their record deal. They broke nationally the next spring/summer.

I learned to drive on a 1972 Impala. My brother had a 1970 Olds 98. I had a 1965 Chrysler 300 hardtop Coupe. My sister had a Mercury Grand Marquis and a full-sized RWD Buick in the '80s. Other sister had a 1980's Chevy Caprice Wagon. We now have a '94 Buick Roadmaster wagon with the 350 ci LT-1 engine.

I LOVE big cars.

Hahah!!!! How old were you when you got it???

My FIRST car, bought with my own money at 19 yrs old, was a 1969 Chevelle SS 396 drop top. NOTHING worked on it, except the drive train. Complete raped ape on the road. Damn thing was scary fast...

Engine fire took her out... sigh...

The 75 Bonneville was a few years later, but what a sweet old piece of Detroit Muscle. Big old 400 cu in under the hood. Power everything and a YUUUUGE backseat :^)

“...1955 Chrysler Imperial. That car was incredible....”

Of COURSE it was... you were young, it was American, built by guys just like you, that spoke your language, were raised like you were... and it probably smoked the tires off the rims...

They really were better days.

I grew up in the late 70s, so there were still plenty of muscle cars to be had for cheap.

And I had a bunch of them... should have kept one of them, but hey... folly of youth, as it were :^)...

They were an amazing crew. Saw them in local clubs “back in the day”...

Seems a lifetime ago already.

I owned a 1969 Buick 225 Electra, 4 door. If you went from the drive’s side to the passenger’s side, you were in a different zip code.

RE 72 Impala:

Had a 68 Imapala SS for a few months, never got it on the road, though. Bought it for a 100 bucks. Had a blown (not supercharged blown, but “effed-up beyond hope” blown)327 in it ...

Body was in great shape, but I was a cash poor 20something, so it wasn’t in the cards... sigh.. what coulda been, huh...
