Lost cable TV, internet, and phone service from Comcast around 1:30 am. I'm in Lansing, Mi. Anyone else having problems.
I’m good.
But I’m not near Lansing.
Nor do I have Comcast.

It happens to us periodically late at night. I always figure they’re messing with their system and do it at night because most people are asleep. Fewest people inconvenienced and all that rot but it sux for night owls.
It happened a few nights ago so we should be good to go for a while.
With luck, it should be back up in an hour or so. That’s how it works with us any way. We never bother calling them because that’s pretty useless.
Internet is fine here, but I am not on Comcast. ;-)
First try opening a command promt and type this: ping 172.217.6.14
If that gets replies it is dns. Configure your network settings to use the IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as your DNS servers.
Ok it is going to sound weird, but if that fails try this. Power off your cable modem. Disconnect the cable line from the box. Short the central wire to the screw. Plug back in.

Thanks for the tip. I see lots of complaints but I’m not a member of twitter and apparently I have to go to Facebook to lodge a complaint. I don’t use Facebook.
I used to get pretty good results from calling. You’re right, though. Calling doesn’t help much anymore. Their techs are pretty useless nowadays and the last few problems have resolved themselves. Plus they will flat out lie to you. Seems to be company policy now. They used to be a lot better.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve tried unplugging the power from the cable box several times and from the router once. The fact that all 3 services are out of service tells me that it’s not a DNS issue.
I’m having trouble affording Comcast in the DC metropolitan area. Too much money for too much crap and little that is worth watching.
I wonder what’s on the Verizon?
All I’m able to get is a low res map on my phone, but from what I saw Lansing appears to be outside the colored circles.

We’ve only had Comcast a couple of years but haven’t had many problems with them. Just the interruption of service for an hour or so every now and then, always around this time of night. The timing is what makes us think it’s a little maintenance being done. If that’s the case, I won’t complain ..... as long as it doesn’t become frequent.
I don’t think the map is meant to be that accurate. It shows significant outages in MI, near enough to the Lansing area to be suspect.
