The Syrian army is threatening to respond to Sunday's Israeli mortar attack on the Quenitra area following the explosion of mortar shells on the northern Golan Heights.
The army issued a statement.........

This is the latest statement from the Syrian side.
If sundry reports are to be believed, the Israelis are supporting some of the worst elements of rebels, for some reason.
Syria has bee pushing it’s luck for decades, allowing Iran to run arms through it to Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon.
Now it appears it’s going to back terrorist (or perhaps even Syrian Army) activity in the Golan area.
With Putin’s involvement in the region, this could go South rather quickly.
It’s one of the reasons why I have advocated for our Congress, guys like McCain, Graham, and the other Leftists there, to back off on the hostility toward Russia.
At some point Russia is going to come to the conclusion, “What the heck! What do we have to lose by simply doing what we want? Those idiots in the U.S. don’t even appreciate us agreeing to fight ISIS in a unified manner.”
We are our own worst enemies at times, and it all seems to be feeding the Ezekiel narrative.

DEBKA published an update quoting the Syrians as saying Israel was helping the Al Qaeda forces of Jabhat al-Nusra.
There was a time when threats from the Syrian army meant something, needed to be given cobsideration. Those days are long past now.

I used to listen to the radio preachers a lot in the 1970’s and got that Ezekiel story, the Revelation story and so on.....

Its easy to create an illusion of one side being good and the other side being bad. Sometimes that is true but a lot of times its not true.
