Dave Daubenmire: Christians Better Get Angry Or Your Grandkid Is Going To Be A Homo
Religious Right activist Coach Dave Daubenmire called on right-wing Christians to start displaying more righteous anger over what is happening in this country like the fact that your grandkid is going to be a homo.
I think America could use a little bit of anger, Daubenmire said on his Pass The Salt Live webcast this morning. Was Jesus ever angry? And if Jesus was angry, was that a sin? Are we allowed to be angry? Are Christians allowed to be angry? Or are Christians supposed to get angry and then eat it? Is that what were supposed to do?
Coach, you seem angry,' he continued. Well, why arent you? You dont care that they abort babies? That doesnt make you mad? It doesnt make you mad that Planned Parenthood just spent $760,000 in that election down in Georgia? $760,000tax dollarsPlanned Parenthood invested in that dude, that asshat down there in Georgia. That doesnt make you mad?
It doesnt make you mad that they teach lies to your kids in school? he fumed. That dont make you mad? Oh, well just pray about it, well just pray about, Coach. Yeah, and in the meantime, your grandkid is gonna be a homo!
A perversion of the intent and context of Jesus' statement. He was speaking in hyperbole to emphasize the sinfulness of the attitude of corrupt Jews in over reacting to imagined slights. If a Jew suffered a slight by an enemy, he responded ten fold. If a Jew was attacked and lost an eye, the Jew would retaliate by knocking out the offending Jews eye, and a couple teeth and breaking his arm. Way beyond a mere eye for an eye. But this was all hyperbole. The point being that the offended Jew should exercise proper restraint in such cases.
This was demonstrated in John 18 when Jesus was slapped on the cheek by the servant of the high priest. Jesus objected and protested that he had done nothing worthy of assault. This was an indication that the turning of the other cheek was figurative, not literal.
Again, Paul in Acts 23 was slapped by a servant of the high priest and instead of turning the other cheek, but said "God will smite thee thou whited wall.
Christians are under the misapprehension that they have to theologically, doctrinally and sometimes physically allow themselves to be assaulted and insulted. That's false doctrine and false humility.
Mommy, why is it raining?
It rains because Jesus is crying, honey.
Why is Jesus crying, Mommy?
It’s probably something you did.
I have a friend who is a full time evangelist. He said if he gets attacked for preaching the Gospel, he’ll turn the other cheek. Attack a member of his family, prepare to die
IMO it's several things, one of which is a sort of over-deference to [state] authority -- as if whatever the state declares is just and good by virtue of their authority -- ignoring that there are explicit places where not yielding to inappropriate state-demands [ie usurpation of authority] was endorsed by God through miracles, the book of Daniel yields two examples: the Lion's Den story, and the Fiery Furnace story. (And there's also Herod's acceptance of worship directly causing his death. [Acts 12]) -- Another is that things like anger and hate are frowned on; ignoring that the fear of the lord is to hate all evil, ignoring that Jesus got so angry that he went and made a scourge and drove the animals and moneychangers out of the temple.
At least that's my perception.
Yep. Which is why I, an ordained minister, do not have a home church.
Churchianity is a castrated social experiment by and for leftists. Seminaries are as corrupt and Marxist as universities.
Back to the catacombs...
What a NOT coincidence that I am reading a book published in 1899 titled “Why Men Don’t Go To Church.”
I was going to try and figure out how to get the guys who got out and voted for Trump to get back into the church because of the spiritual war going on in our nation. We are losing. He is very angry at the nations that practice child sacrifice, legalized no-fault divorce, etc., etc., etc., and we need our men to lead in the battle.
Remember, also, Jesus said it was good for Peter to have a sword. It was used to glorify Jesus when He healed the ear, but He still wanted it there. A reminder of when He would be coming back?
In Revelation the churches are to “overcome.” We will have a choice, live by the sword and die by the sword or become a slave.
13:7 It was also given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given to him. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain. 9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10 If anyone is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints.
Do you have a blog? This spiritual war we are in warrants teaching.
Years ago L. Ron Hubbard (or a ghost writer, since much of it appeared after his death IIRC) wrote a SF series called Mission Earth. It was mostly forgettable crap, but some things stuck in my head - like the government encouraging homosexuality to keep the birthrate down and drug abuse to keep people docile and under control.
Starting to look eerily prophetic.
