After another busy day in Washington on Tuesday, the president and first lady slipped out for a low-key dinner at the home of Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen.

The Trumps slipped out of the White House quickly and quietly, ducking in to a waiting motorcade which drove them the 3.1 miles to the Naval Observatory.

First Lady Melania was typically stylish in a black lace cocktail dress and black leather pointed pumps.

She wore a pair of large black sunglasses as she made her way through the evening heat and into the waiting car behind her husband.

It's good to hear that Melania and Karen Pence are spending social time together. In a city infested with swampthings, Karen Pence comes across as a wonderful, truly decent person. I'd think that social time those two can spend together would be a nice escape from the insanity their husbands have brought into their lives.

(not that either comes across as someone who would not support their husband's inescapable missions to save the nation)

It was refreshing to see Trump not make a big deal of his birthday like Obama and the press always did about Obama’s. His rapper and celebrity birthday parties every year were gushed on by the press. Obama loves celebrating Obama.

It looks almost like a funeral dress to me. It doesn’t look like a summer dinner with friends dress. She always looks beautiful to me. But she doesn’t look happy. We often have prayer threads for the POTUS and family, but I think she is in extra need of comfort and peace and faith strengthening. Maybe the visit to the hospital last week hit her hard. So prayers specifically for Melania.

A leader of the free world, where people would scrutinize her yes, but many more would support, accede or even live by her every word and action.
