If Phil Mickelson completes the career Grand Slam, it's going to happen with another caddie. On Tuesday afternoon, Mickelson and longtime bag man Jim "Bones" Mackay announced they are parting ways through a joint statement sent to various members of the media. At least to golf fans, the phrase "nothing lasts forever" has never seemed rung more true.

And Phil’s brother does not get the annual veto, which Phil stated is non-transferable.
Sob...sob...breaking’ up is hard to doooo...
“There’s speculation whether Mackay, who had double knee replacement surgery in November, will caddie for another PGA Tour pro or take a job in television. “
Perhaps Bones was no longer able to perform his duties?
...I had no idea.
They seemed so happy...maybe he was messing around.
Damnit it Phil, I’m a caddie, not a starship doctor!!!!!
Bones had to attend his son’s grade school graduation.

If it were his knees I’d think they’d say so. I wonder if it had anything to do with Phil withdrawing from the US Open. That’s the only major he hasn’t won.
Probably high time to change something up. Fowler should do the same, change up something, and the most changeable things are equipment, coaches, and caddies.
2 class acts and I’d guess solid Americans. All the best to both and thanks for some great entertainment.
Phil withdrew reportedly to attend his daughter’s graduation. Have heard him say “family first” more than once. Mickelson is a total class act.
Knees , Bones came to Phil
Macky has been making between $500K and $1 million for 25 years, as the caddy’s share of the purses Phil has won. I don’t see why he wouldn’t move on to something else, or retire and enjoy life.
PHil’s daughter was not only graduating, but she was valedictorian and graduation speaker. I applaud Phil for skipping the US Open. As it turned out, he easily may have missed the cut with the other fairway-missing bombers who had a very hard time hitting the ball out of the tall fescue.
Lefty will be hard pressed to find a better looper than Bones. Big shoes to fill. Big shoes. Smart move waiting until the offseason to pick a permanent replacement. Class acts, both guys.
Amazing Open. Can’t believe how far some of those young studs can drive the ball. Phil is an amazing golfer but so happy about his daughter. Says a lot about him as a father. There will be other tournaments but this was his daughter’s day.
It said he did a tournament in the both and got good reviews. That would be my guess over packing equipment all over the place on rehab knees.
That seems a bit on the trivial side after 25 years. My guess is he's just plain worn out and though he's a millionaire many times over thanks to Phil, the TV money is sure to get one's attention.
