If you could change one presidential election since 1968

Posted on 06/15/2017 11:14:23 AM PDT by MNDude

If you could change any presidential election so the presidential candidate loser would win, for example John McCain would have become president in 2008 instead of Obama, which election would you change?

That was my immediate thought also. It hurts to think that a lot of the problems facing this country are a result of Ross Perot's ego.

Unfortunately, the one I’d most like to change is outside your parameters: 1964. A Goldwater win makes us an entirely different (an din most ways, better) country today.

Ditto, 1992

Had Bush not sat on his ass and have voters let the “recession” work it’s way thru, we wouldn’t have been stuck with Slick Willie, hilLIAR, algor, disasterous appointments et al

And the GOP would have benefited from the Tech Boom of the 90s. Who knows what fickle LIVs would have done come 2000, 2004, but at least we wouldn’t have the Clintons to kick around anymore

Good point. Clinton was the luckiest SOB on the planet when Perot got in and took votes from Bush. Clinton’s relative success made it safe to vote for Democrats again after the debacle of Jimmy Carter. And it ultimately positioned Hillary to run. That would never have happened without Bill Clinton winning in 1992.

1976 -— Reagan wins and gets a non establishment VP (many fixes all at once, no Carter and no establishment in the President and VP spots)

1960? Nixon was to the left of Kennedy. How high would our taxes be today, without Kennedy’s massive tax cut.

My choice would have been to keep Nixon in office for his whole second term.

The NVA would have been bombed to oblivion when they tried their final assault in '75 and we would have had the fall of the Soviet Union several years earlier.

Although looking back Bush senior was a more committed globalist than Bill Clinton ever was.

We are bearing the evil fruits of Abaraham Lincoln today. He really began the march to socialism. He was supported by Karl Marx.

I actually think the South would have been better off if he had lived but he didn’t.

In recent history it would be LBJ. He was both evil and smart. He knew how to get things done. Unfortunately he got evil done.

Obama was unquestionably the worst man and right up there with the worst overall.
