The investment firm Social Capital has hired Marc Mezvinsky as vice chairman as it expands beyond traditional venture capital.

Mezvinsky will take responsibility for helping the firm forge ties with governments, companies and other investors, founder Chamath Palihapitiya said Thursday in a blog post on Medium. Based in New York, Mezvinsky started in April, a firm spokeswoman said.

"I have seen firsthand his ability to think strategically and engage equally well with both CEOs and engineers," Palihapitiya, who also is a part-owner of the National Basketball Association's Golden State Warriors, wrote about Mezvinsky. "He has a common touch which is rare for someone with such deep experiences and relationships in politics, finance and philanthropy."

Ya, he lost investor money in his prior ventures.

How could anyone in the investment arena hire this guy, given his bad track record??

And why is it ok for a liberal such as Chelsea Clinton’s husband to run a hedge fund or venture capital firm, but it was an evil business when people such as Mitt Romney are involved in the investment business???

How the heck do Mark and Chelsea afford to live in a $10 million Manhattan co-op apartment???

There are lots of unanswered money questions which are never asked if the people involved are liberal.

The same husband that started a venture capital fund and lost all the money invested as they were counting on Hillary winning and bailing out Puerto Rico.

will take responsibility for helping the firm forge ties with governments, companies and other investors

In other words, to trade on his relationship with Bill and Hillary.

I remember when SV would pick the best of the best.
It all began to go wrong when Al Gore got grabbed by Google.

Sorry, my bad memory.... it was Greece.

EXCLUSIVE: No apology, no rebate! Chelsea Clinton’s contemptuous husband Marc Mezvinsky has ‘nothing to say’ to his investors (some Hillary contributors) despite losing 90 percent of their millions

Mezvinsky has refused to apologize to investors yesterday - despite losing nearly $25 million of their money in a gamble on the Greek economy

Those investors include wealthy Clinton family supporters, some of whom have contributed campaign money to either Bill or Hillary

Mezvinsky persuaded clients to pour cash into the struggling European country in the hope it would bounce back and deliver massive profits

When Daily Mail Online asked Mezvinsky - outside his $10 million Manhattan apartment - he refused to discuss the Greek tragedy

Marc’s father Edward Mezvinsky, pleaded guilty to 31 charges of felony fraud in 2001 and spent five years in federal prison

He admitted scamming his friends and family out of $10 million in a Ponzi scheme.

“Social Capital” = “influence peddling”

Like, literally. The very name of the company announces the intention to profit from political corruption.

“He has a common touch which is rare for someone with such deep experiences and relationships in politics, finance and philanthropy.”

IOW, he picks their pockets with their blessing as his personal philanthropy begins at home. It is a wonder those who get involved with POS like him, Clinton and Obama never run out of their money. Either they have ultra deep pockets through inheritances or they are professional dupes.
