Jay Osmond said, "The song was recorded at MGM in Hollywood and we added that distinctive Wah! Wah! intro sound afterwards. Alan had written the lyrics, which talked about horsepower, and he said: Its got to sound like a horse somehow. We tried everything, then finally found something on Donnys organ that sounded like a neighing stallion. Donny, the usual co-lead, had no vocal parts on account of his voice being in the middle of changing due to puberty. The record was co-produced by Alan Osmond and Michael Lloyd, who had previously been in psychedelic rock group The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band.
Jay Osmond said, "Crazy Horses was way ahead of its time. Its a song about ecology and the environment: those crazy horses, smoking up the sky are gas-guzzling cars, destroying the planet with their fumes. We shot the record sleeve in a junkyard, surrounded by big old cars." The song was initially banned in France when authorities believed the lyric smoking up the sky was about drugs.

You're Welcome.
I’m a little bit county...
I’m a little bit rock and roll...
Here they are doing the same song in their ‘70s pimp finery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXO7-aAzUO4
You know, the moral of the story is— always dye your hair.
This song belongs in a “Fargo” episode.

Weird song but not metal at all Bruce. Maybe it’s the heaviest thing they’ve ever done but still not metal.

Congratulations, you took a pathetically cheesy post and made it even more pitiful. Ha!
Just playing... 8O)
I still remember these capsule reviews from Rolling Stone Record Guide
“The heavy metal on “Phase III” epitomizes stupidity”
Donnie and Marie: “Wretched excess, emphasis on wretched.Sometimes I wish they’d go skiing with Andy Williams, and meet his ex wife.” [Claudine Longet IIRC]
“......Now back to our movie, ‘The Jackson 5 Story’, starring, ‘The Osmond Brothers’” - Cheech and Chong
One of the most played songs on my iPod!
Somehow though, the air is much cleaner today than it was 45 years ago even thought we have double or even triple the amount of cars.
I can't blame the Osmonds though. Young people have always been earnest and thinking that it is all up to them to save the world. I remember when I was young, lecturing my uncle about tossing a six-pack ring into the trash. I literally pulled that ring out of the trash and with scissors, would cut it up so that fish in the ocean would not get caught up in it.
I was saving the fish!
.
Fish never did get caught in 6-pack rings.
Feel-good bullshit.
.
I'm going to post shortly about girls. I was naive about them as well when I was a youngster. Make sure you look for that post. I did not get dates until I became a man because girls do not like nice boys.
