The Italian government on Thursday dissolved four town councils due to evidence of mafia infiltration.

The affected towns were Laureana di Borrello, Bova Marina, and Gioia Taura, all located in Reggio Calabria at the toe of Italy’s boot, as well as San Felice a Cancello in Caserta, Campania. […]

Government-appointed commissions will take over council duties, the ministry said, and local elections scheduled for June 11th will no longer take place in two of the Sicilian towns. […]

In 2016, the government disbanded the local council of Corleone because of suspected mafia infiltration of the Sicilian town which helped inspire Francis Coppola’s “Godfather” series. It also dissolved a northern town council over suspected mafia links, for the first time ever. …

Interesting that they are using the mafia excuse to institute centralization. And while Coppola did the movies, Mario Puzo was the author of the series.

A friend of mine spent a month is Sicily just over a year ago.

He told me there was an ongoing crackdown on the Mafia.
He said he saw a place where a couple of dozen nice empty houses were up for sale, but had no takers because they were previously Mafia owned, and no one wanted to get involved with those houses.

Also the Muslim invasion of Sicily had just begun, and there was no Mafia to run them off, and the Govt is not up to driving them out.

Does anyone know the status of the Muslim's in Sicily today? - Tom

How about a crack down on the refugees pouring in? Hell the Italian Navy picks them up 120 miles off the coast of Africa, and instead of taking them back to Africa 10 miles away they take them to Italy which is much further.

The mafia would do a better job of running the country than the airheads running it now.

Just what I was thinking. The Mafia would be good to run off the Muslims.

Although they used a strong acid in Breaking Bad, usually a strong base like sodium hydroxide would be better for dissolving people.

NaOH is what the Mexican cartels reportedly use.

The Italian government has always treated Calabria like crap. It didn’t care when 25000 people were killed in an earthquake and tsunami. An American named Adm. Belknap came with the US Navy and took my relatives to Boston. Now I hear our towns ate being invaded by Muslims.

I was told, when I was in Sicily years ago, that the Mafia was the stable underground government of the Sicilian people regardless of which nation had taken them over. The Greeks, Norman’s, Arabs, Bourbons and etc. were all occupants at one time.

IMHO the Mafia may rise and become useful to the native Sicilians once again.

It will be tough since many of the Mafia are now in jail, and Sicilians have less fear of the Mafia and have signs in some restaurants stating they don't pay money to the Mafia.

The Sicilians can't count on the Govt. expelling Muslims anymore than we can here in the USA.

I just talked to Frank and he said the Muslims were coming into Palermo at a rate of 1,000 per day, when he was there.
That is why he did not go back to Sicily this winter. -Tom
