I mean i have seen clips of people doing it during regular marathons, i cant imagine they would not have a serious chance of doing it at such a sprint of a speed, even with special practice/training.
Valiant effort...unfortunately didn’t break the 2 hour mark, time was 2 hours and 23 seconds

Damn good try
I’m 62. Haven’t done it yet...we’ll see.
“Are they tested for drugs?”
That occurred to me, too, along the lines of, “do they want to *do* it, or do they want it to be legal?”
The story gets worse.
The pace runners will form a flying V, and the three competitors will run inside the V-shaped wind break.
To me, that fact alone makes the record feel tainted.
Re: 2:00:24
Just yesterday, at the Runner’s World web site, they said today’s run would be a half marathon test run, and the goal was 60 minutes.
Was there a sudden change of plan, or was that just bad information?
I know someone who didn’t run, at least as he tells me, until he was in his sixties, maybe even mid; now, a few years later, he won his age class in a major marathon. I think it was along the lines of 4 hours and 23 minutes but I could be wrong.
Honestly, he’s about 5’8”, maybe 5’6” and rather lean, wiry, probably less than 150 lbs. I think that is as crucial in his case as anything. A lot of us don’t carry much extra weight but if one is big and say, of a medium build, I think it makes it harder.
I’d love to get motivated to do that.
No, it was always a full marathon. I think they did some training on 1/2 marathons.
Thanks.
I read the Runner World’s link at Drudge.
Maybe the article was dated, and I didn’t notice.
Re: “Id love to get motivated to do that.”
I run every day (I’m retired).
On work days, I rarely see other runners.
Today, I saw six runners!
How are your joints doing? How old are you?
I’ve run a lot in my life, albeit off and on, but all put together probably 35 years. Some good distances, 5 miles a day, 6 up to 8 miles a day for a long stretch of time.
My joints are all good. I sometimes wonder if all my running didn’t strengthen my knees, hips and ankles and that they have thickened adjusting to the load I put on them.
I love to run once I get into it and really get it going. 2nd best feeling in the world.
High school boys is 3:53 and now 10 years old
Considered by most to be a tough one to top
Science, Nike and a super-fast runner nearly pulled off a 2-hour marathon

I can run at pace...for about 20-30 yards.

They had too much help.
