Maybe he could write something brilliant, have it published; instead of trying to create controversy (and ultimately trouble) around his ‘appearances’.
I used to be a great fan - I think he’s brilliant, and understands what is right and good. But he’s not putting his talents to best use.
He needs to get over himself, and realize that he’s got the charisma and the smarts to make it on a higher level than this ‘Show Biz’ stuff.
I don’t think the man really believes in himself. His intellect alone could carry him, and do a world of good. But he doesn’t seem to think that it’s good enough, and relies on all of this sensationalism.

I’m in touch with a lot of college-age folks. Some of them would fall for this; some would want something more cerebral.
He needs to mix it up a bit. He could attract and influence a mixture of people. But I think he really likes the sensational stuff, and has no patience with anything more demanding.
I love the guy; but I want to see more and higher out of him.
We’ll see what he can do at Berkeley, if they let him in...
