A French opinion writer named Ivan Rioufol got himself into a heap o’ trouble by referring to Muslims who adhere to fundamentalist or Salafist positions as supporters of the “ideology of the Islamic State”.
That seems to me to be an accurately-phrased assertion of equivalence. But the bien-pensées who are in charge of French political culture do not agree. Mr. Rioufol is now under investigation, and may be subject to a criminal procedure.

ISIS has nothing to do with Islam, I mean its Hindu, or Buddhist, or Christian, or maybe Jewish or Atheistic or something....because to think so would be “Islamaphobic”. Never mind that the founder of Islam and his initial followers behaved just like ISIS, and that barbaric behavior is fully endorsed and prescribed by Islamic scripture and the entire history of Islam is bloody and barbaric along the same lines for all 14 centuries of its history. Why, true Islam is a happy face drawn by some lying Islamic apologists or brain-dead leftists. Quit using your brain people, its offensive.
I gather that now stating facts is now a criminal offense in France. Sad.
Notice how attacks at Christianity are applauded by these same people. It seems to be part of the never ending battle between good and evil.
The French are digging their own grave unless Marine Le Pen can stop them. Disarmed & beholden to the PC-soaked state.

I have read IvanRioufol’s columns in Le Figaro for years. He is my favorite writer in France and has extremely knowledgeable and coherent messages in his opinions. I am not surprised they are trying to shoot him down. He is truly an intelligent WESTERN thinker.
Whoever is threatening prosecution should be revealed, and let the real Frenchmen deal with him/them.

Several Eastern States are about to pass laws (if not already) making "disrespecting" islam a "hate crime", with punishment consisting of permanently giving up your Constitutional Second Amendment Rights.
Feel like challenging that all the way to the Supreme Court?
If these proposed laws are Islam-specific, they are already doomed to 1st Amendment based challenges. Andrew Cuomo can don a hijab and scream “Allahu Akbar” all he wants.
One can lose one’s 2A rights only as the result of felony conviction. That pesky Constitution gets in the way of autocratic rule, just ask Barack Obama.
We are but a single SCOTUS vote away from a majority conservative Supreme Court. Time marches on & Ruth Buzze Ginsberg won’t last forever.
The situation is fluid, to put it mildly.
