Job cuts, whether theyre called layoffs or buyouts, are an unpleasant fact of life and when they hit a sports-media company that bills itself as the Worldwide Leader, theyre a hot-button target.
Plenty of social media users, unhappy at the networks emphasis on debate and de-emphasis on news, were happy to see misfortune strike the company. Of course, the people affected have lives and families and mortgages and pets and the companys Bristol, Conn., campus was in shock and frozen by the departures of what could be 100 colleagues. Others in media, where layoffs and cuts are frequent, felt their pain, lashing back at the lack of compassion on social media.

They brought it all upon themselves. A ‘sports’ network without ‘sports’....................
Wow, ESPN on air personalities trash conservatives and push a hard leftist line and now whine when the people they attack laugh at their misfortune?
Haven’t they ever heard of Schadenfreude?
Looks like the most odious ESPN presenters, looking at you Jemele Hill, were spared.
Where’s my tiny violin?
Just call me a dirtbag! Heh, heh, heh!
KEK
I saw that observation somewhere else too. They cut the normal people and spared the scumbags. I believe this qualifies as keeping digging when you are in a hole.
Yeah i couldn’t begin to give a ####.
You’re a DEPLORABLE DIRTBAG! Welcome to the club!.............
F ESPN.
Many of those laid off will land on their feet almost immediately. Danny Kannell, Jayson Stark and Ed Werder will all get job offers by tomorrow morning. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised that Stark gets job offers from FOX Sports or MLB Network as early as April 27, 2017!
Yeah i’m not glad or sad that they’re fired.
I pretty much forgot about them after stopping watching last year when they picked the freak for a courage award.

(In its carrying case above)
The only two radio personalities on ESPN radio I still like, Rusillo & Kennell, were cut. They kept Social Justice Warrior race baiters like Hill, and hags from ESPNW.
They became too PC.
Losing a job is bad, I agree.
The pain being inflicted upon ESPN employees, I hope, is seen for what it truly is: a self-inflicted wound brought about by the utter disregard for the opinions of the consumers of the product.
Like Rush Limbaugh has been saying for years, the ‘news’ media is one of the few where the providers always think the CONSUMER is wrong and the PROVIDER is correct.
The saddest thing is, the fake journalists are so surrounded by the group think in their profession that they cannot even see how WRONG they are in their worldview.
Thanks! I like that name!
Zero sympathy.
Like the NYT, Washington Post, Boston Globe, CBS, NBC, etc., ESPN uses their pulpit to endorse insane cultural agenda-driven “reporting”, publicly shaming (or attempting to) people or organizations who don’t toe their line.
Screw them.
These are the same people who enthusiastically supported politicians who specifically said they intended to destroy the coal industry utterly. Well, they are just evil fossil fuel employees. They can retrain and find some other service industry job.
No sympathy. None. Zero. When each of the entities above go belly up, I will have a drink in celebration each time.
Lots of laid off white guys.....disparate impact anyone?
