Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston surrenders his army to Union General William T. Sherman at Bennett Place North Carolina.
Huh? Who and what surrendered for what reason. Apparently there was no civil war(NOLA statue removal) so what was there to surrender about? No civil war=no slavery=NO reparations.
Johnston was later a pall bearer in Sherman’s rain soaked funeral.
He himself died the next day from pneumonia.
He caught a cold the day after Sherman’s funeral Feb 19, 1891. It developed into pneumonia and Johnston died Mar 21, 1891.
Yeah, well, I guess I am sort of the Cliff Clavin of history.
Of course there was no Civil War!
As I was wonderfully instructed early-on when landing here in GreenAcres (along the path of "The General") when referring to the Civil War..."son, we don't call it the Civil War here...it was the War of Northern Aggression..."
I was born and raised in Northern Virginia. As a child I actually knew some people who lived through it. From the stories they told there wasn’t much that was civil about it.
Also known as the recent unpleasantness
I had a complete laugh out loud episode when I was told that...priceless.
