Etymology: "unfortunate," c.1400, from hap (n.) in the sense "good luck" + -less. Related: Haplessly ; haplessness.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

I had hoped, finally, that America could go without Hillary’s Annoying Personality (i.e., HAP-less), starting this year, but we find ourselves once again hapless victims of her refusal to stay politically dead.
