Gorka says president made pragmatic call on Syrian strike, suggests little risk of escalation

Sebastian Gorka, deputy assistant to the president, said on Friday morning that President Donald Trump’s populist supporters need not fear that the decision to strike a Syrian government target last week represents an embrace of neoconservatism.

“It’s not a modification,” Gorka said Friday on “The Laura Ingraham Show.” “Donald J. Trump hasn’t changed from November 7 to Good Friday, April 14,” he said.

“This isn’t 2003, this isn’t 1991 and the Gulf War, and the president has not changed one bit,” Gorka said. “This is not the Bush administration, and it is not neoconservatism.”

I like him, good man with solid credentials and experience. Plus, many political insiders hate him, which says he’s on the right side of things.

President Trump’s moves have made sense to me.

He is often a few moves ahead of his opponents, so you have to puzzle out what he is about.

The contrast between Trump and Obama could not be much greater.

I am looking forward to President Trump’s speech at the NRA annual meeting. I will be covering it for Gun Watch, Ammoland, The Truth About Guns, and other publications.

Quick! Someone post a rumor from a blog, with an “insider source” that says Trump is going the jail Bannon, and appoint Romney as he co-president!

I don’t have a problem with the first Gulf war. Saddam Hussein would have rolled on through Saudi Arabia if w hadn’t stopped him

I’m willing to take his word for it.

Now let’s move on.

I would like to hear more politicians talk the talk of liberty, and openly express the desire to return this nation to be the land of the free; the home of the brave.

Bet Laura was her usual anti-Trump snarky self during that interview. According to her Trump hasn’t done one thing right as President.

Good on ya. I don’t feel DJT is listening to the neo-cons, either, but we have to watch them like hawks, anyway.

Some of the hand wringers here need to understand Trump isn't an ideologue or beholden to anyone or thing except his base.

He's a pragmatic businessman who now runs the largest company in the world...

The United States of America.

How many CEO's are concerned if the accounting dept thinks "If he does this will it make us mad and say bad things about him behind his back"

He doesn't care to kowtow to any political movement or party...

His one and only job is to grow, protect and build the company...The USA...

Everybody else can go pound sand...

I am in agreement with you.

Frankly, I don’t think there was a better combination for sound foreign policy that the GHWB-James Baker duo.

Yes, and the first Gulf War lead logically to the Second, especially after 9/11.

LET'S NEVER NEVER FORGET---Bush was duped into invading Iraq by the "American-interests-are-not our-interests" neocon cabal.

ITEM--After meeting over room-temperature Brie and chilled Krystal at the Four Seasons, neocons came back to their office IN THE WH, and duped GWB into believing the Iraq strike would cost $50-60 billion American tax dollars.

Later an angry Bush fired advisor Larry Lindsey because Lindsay dared to say the war might cost more like $100 billion.

That was in 2007 dollars.

FAST FORWARD TO TODAY Iraq and Afghanistan today have cost the US some $3 TRILLION and counting....and rivers of young blood. We/re still pouring US tax dollars into those decrepit Mideast countries, and..... as Donald says....the US got NOTHING in return.

BTW, look who controls most of the Iraqi oil fields today.

Could THIS be what the calculating neocons are after (/snix)?

ITEM--The war profiteering was outrageous. Neocon godfather Richard Perle relaxing in Paris (above the fray---nowhere near his cohorts plotting in the WH Office of Special Ops) got so rich w/ insider info, the wsj reported Perle started his own oil company.

Wrong.

In fact it was Daddy Bush who was dead set against W going into Iraq. He pleaded...even begged him not to open that hornet’s nest.

There was absolutely NO legitimate reason to do what GWB did. And we’re still paying the price.

Laura Ingraham will have to ask Gay Raymond how she feels about the Gorka comments. Did you all know Laura was the former Editor-In-Chief of The Dartmouth Review?

MEMO TO DR GORKA: Keep an eye out and let us know if Jared Kushner ever talks to his brethren Bill Kristol.

===================================================

QUOTING NEOCON KRISTOL: It’s profoundly depressing and vulgar to hear an American president proclaim "America first"
Biz PAC Review ^ | 01/21/17 | Scott Morefiel / FR Posted by Enlightened1

Kristol let out a tweetstorm before and during Donald Trump’s “America First” themed inauguration speech Friday, highlighted by this gem: "I'll be unembarrassedly old-fashioned here: It is profoundly depressing and vulgar to hear an American president proclaim "America First."" “Depressing and vulgar…”

Wow! In a prime example a true globalist’s gloves coming off, Kristol and his neoconservative ilk can’t help but expose themselves for the anti-American hucksters they are.

In a classic example of the strawman fallacy, they like to link the movement to put our people first, just as every other nation does, to the often pro-Nazi “America First” movement that existed prior to World War II. But Trump is having none of it. (Excerpt) Read more at bizpacreview.com ...

===========================================

REFERENCE The Chinese put China first. The Russians put Russia first. Israelis believe in Israel first. So, what’s wrong with Americans seeking to put our country before a faceless, vacuous globalism that has eaten away at our manufacturing base, taken the lives of our best and brightest overseas, and threatened our standard of living for decades?

According to neoconservatives like Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol, apparently a lot.

Sounds like she is ticked off that she didn't get a WH job.

I listened to her for a while in the 2008 election cycle but quit after an incident --Hillary's cry episode. The morning after, Laura was on Fox&Friends and was quite sarcastic about the crying event. About an hour later, opening her radio program, she again lambasted Clinton as a fake and phony. Her guest at the bottom of the first hour was Clintonista Terry McAuliff. During that interview the subject of the Hillary crying event came up and Laura was oh so sad for poor widdle Hillary and how awful poor widdle Hillary was being treated, etc. Laura did a 180-degree in about an hour-and-a-half. I never bothered listening to her radio program after.

It is really no surprise that many of these 'fair weather' supporters and just looking for an event/opportunity to turn on President Trump. They are political; he is pragmatic.
