But here are the stats folks will always remember: number of Cowboys’ Super Bowl appearances with Romo as quarterback: 0. Number of playoff wins: 2.

Hasn't he had a few concussions too? Given what we are still learning about CTE (?) I hope he doesn't suffer the long term ramifications of those concussions like others in his same role have.

Jim McMahon, Superbowl winning QB of the 1986-1986 Chicago Bears is close to being a vegetable because of concussions, as is former Bears Running Back and NBC 5 Chicago sports announcer Mike Adamle for the same reason.

Darn shame. He’d make a great QB coach or Offensive Coordinator. The dude can read a defense like a book.

Sucks at football? You might want to take a look at this.

It takes more than a QB to win a Super Bowl. During Romo's best years, Dallas had no defense. When a team puts up over 40 points consistently and still loses, that falls on the defense, not the QB. But he got the blame anyway.

Romo is retiring (more or less) because he’s 37 years old and has a known record of season-ending injuries. My guess is that both CBS Sports and FOX Sports are bidding for his services.

His replacement (Peterson) had a good year last year because the competition was rather lackluster. I doubt the replacement will ever have another 14-2 season again.

Prescott. He did well because of Romo’s coaching. I hope he’ll be able to continue what he’s learned.

Took in our cable box yesterday. In fact, this seemed to be the he only transactions taking place at the “store”.

The wife said she’d bet they were all conservatives.

Thank God we’re finally out of it.

When Tony reaches his 50th birthday, he’ll realize he did the right thing.

There was also no guarantee he would have started for a contender. The two teams, most mentioned, Houston and Denver, both have young quarterbacks they want to develop.

Romo was a good QB on a bad team. It’s sad that Jones didn’t get the “religion” of building your team from the lines out until the end of Romo’s career. Star players are nice, but they need that offensive line to keep the QB up, and the defensive line to put the other QB down. Jones spent most of his time since their last SB grabbing high profile WRs and RBs and letting the team’s fundamentals suffer, and the results were expected.

I’m pretty surprised Tony decided to hang ‘em up, but in the end, it was the right decision for his health and his family. Thanks for the memories #9. You were a damn good one and fun to watch.

He broke every record and the stats say he was awesome. He was great at everything....except winning. Bottom line, he wasn’t a leader.

He was great at everything....except winning. Bottom line, he wasn’t a leader.

He threw away 2-3 of his most potentially productive years being a celebrity and offseason golfer. That year he was chasing Jessica Simpson, he was flying to LA just about every week for parties, etc. During the offseason, he was indulging his fantasy as a potential pro golfer.

He was good, but when you're the QB for the Dallas Cowboys, you're judged by the number of Super Bowls you won. Just ask Danny White.

He'll make it to the Ring of Honor, due to his closeness to Jerry.

He and Jessica Simpson famously flew of for a Mexican beach getaway the week before one of his rare playoff games. They lost of course.

Romo never lived it down.

Then there was after losing something like 44-9 to the Eagles to miss out on the playoffs, and after the game Romo said, ““If this is the worst thing that will ever happen to me, then I’ve lived a pretty good life.”

Romo was right of course, but it’s not exactly the kind of thing fans want to hear right after a loss like that.
