Trump says trade gap will make China meeting 'a very difficult one'

U.S. President Donald Trump set the tone for a tense first meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping next week by tweeting on Thursday that the United States could no longer tolerate massive trade deficits and job losses.

The White House said Trump would host Xi next Thursday and Friday at his Mar-a-Lago retreat in Florida. It said Trump and his wife, Melania, would host Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, at a dinner next Thursday.

In a tweet on Thursday evening, Trump said the highly anticipated meeting between the leaders of the world's two largest economies, which is also expected to cover differences over North Korea and China's strategic ambitions in the South China Sea, "will be a very difficult one."

"We can no longer have massive trade deficits and job losses," he wrote, adding in apparent reference to U.S. firms manufacturing in China: "American companies must be prepared to look at other alternatives."

Good. Let him put it out there. I like to know what my president is thinking.

The trade gap since the 90s has been a disaster.

Our trade gap has funded a huge new military as well. One that has long range global ambitions.

I’m glad he’s meeting him at Mar a Lago
That should be an impressive show of capitalism

Like the last meeting obama had with the Chinese wasn’t tense when they refused to send steps out for him to deplane from Air Force One and strong- armed Susan Rice as if she was the drummer’s girl friend

Good article indeed. The best generals choose the ground on which they engage the enemy.

Nobody says we HAVE to buy products from China...

Let's look for an alternative supplier, such as the USA.

Trump will ensure they are treated well. Welcomed properly and treated in a respectful business manner.

Trump likes to take the meetings out of the Trappings of Washington DC. You also get the feeling he doesn’t trust the White house. small ears and big walls.

Plus when the delegation gets here there will be some very informal meetings with K street crowd, minor diplomats, and the opposition party of course (but this isn’t meddling /s).

Many of these will take place at Mar a Lago. This means some of his enemies will have to be going to staying at or near Mar a Lago. And the News delegation will have to tag alone there at Mar a Lago.

They’ll start becoming noticeably used to the luxurious amenities and some will start developing a fondness for Trump.

Trumps a genius.

By the way...

Nixon travelled to China.

Now, the Chinese leader is traveling to the US.

There is a lot of symbolism there.

Meanwhile Chinese Corporations owned by the People’s Red Army are acquiring all of the land surrounding the Panama Canal. The creeping dragon strategy works. China plans on invading our West Coast/ No question about it.

This should be oone of the items President Trump discusses with Xi Jinping.

along with the Spratly Island situation.
