Some Friendly Advice to My Republican Elders
The American Spectator ^ | 23 Mar, 2017 | JUDAH FRIEDMAN

Posted on 03/23/2017 8:48:59 AM PDT by MtnClimber

If this is the Republicans’ idea of party unity, please take me off your guest list. At best, the Republican Party can, right now, be described as self-destructive, and at worst sheer masochistic. There is no “I” in team but there are two in idiots, and that is how you are all coming across to the American people right now; no, not just to the Democrats, but to your own party. Your lack of loyalty to each other is honestly downright embarrassing, and extremely detrimental.

If you need help with understanding the meaning of party unity look no further then to your opposition; again, not the opposition within your own ranks, but the opposition on the other side of the aisle. Rank and file, the Democrats pushed the ACA down the throats of Americans, and a majority of them never read their own bill. Now I understand this neglect is what has created the mess of Obamacare, but at least, to their credit, they created something. I know many of you truly believe your ideas and convictions are correct, and, heck, they probably are, but optics are everything. Senator Paul, all of this public infighting is truly hurting the vision.

I agree MtnClimber...repeal Obamacare completely, and hand it back to the free market.

“...repeal Obamacare completely, and hand it back to the free market....”

Not going to happen.

They’re terrified of being called names by the Dems.

Send to President Trump the same repeal that you sent to Obama. Otherwise, the whole party comes over as being hypocrites.

Hmm. I don’t know the young (and inexperienced I presume) author, but screw him. Telling his “elders” to get in line and stop complaining? Telling the most conservative of us to shut up and stand down? Devalue our opinions for the sake of appearances? Give over to the Ryan RINOs so the dems won’t laugh at us? A bit shallow, there, young’un. Hey Sparky, go join the libertarians. Just because you write articles doesn’t mean you know a damned thing.

Judah Freeman sounds like a democrat — “optics are everything,” who obviously thinks we should pass things without reading just like the dems do. Well, if the Uniparty didn’t exist, maybe we could trust that the enemy wasn’t in our own party. But we’ve had too many times when those lying traitors with and “R” next to their names, stabbed us in the back, stealing our hard earned money and grabbing at our freedom. So no, we’ll be reading and saying no when they try to push their dem/lib garbage. Someone has to stand up and fight for the citizens of this country.

The Uniparty eunuchs never had any intention of repealing Obamacare and reducing Fedzilla’s power.
They are the attendants of Fedzilla, not the servants of the people.

This writer wants us all to sign on to Obamacare renamed and rearranged.

I want it gone.

Just another example of the GOP snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Repealing Obamacare alone won’t work.

First,10 million people will have no healthcare
Second, kids 26 and under on their parents policies will be dropped (affects millions on both sides)
Third, pre-existing condition coverage dropped.
Fourth, millions off Medicaid.

It would be an absolute bloodbath in 2 years; GOP has made so many gains; this is not the issue to lose it all on.

Once and entitlement is granted, very hard to take back. Ryan plan isn’t great, but it is a start and it is better.

If this can get passed, then comes tax reform, immigration reform, etc. The article is right, put on big boy pants and stand together. You can’t make the perfect the enemy of the good.

I wish Trump would stop tweeting like everyone else. The irony is that everything else he is doing is exactly what he promised and, up to now, going well. If it weren’t for the tweets (and the distraction they have caused), this vote would be over and on its way to the Senate.

On the 2nd of June 1787 Ben Franklin warned the Constitutional Congress about this type of situation in a speech. The second paragraph follows;

"Sir, there are two passions which have a powerful influence on the affairs of men. These are ambition and avarice; the love of power, and the love of money. Separately each of these has great force in prompting men to action; but when united in view of the same object, they have in many minds the most violent effects. Place before the eyes of such men, a post of honour that shall be at the same time a place of profit, and they will move heaven and earth to obtain it. The vast number of such places it is that renders the British Government so tempestuous. The struggles for them are the true sources of all those factions which are perpetually dividing the Nation, distracting its Councils, hurrying sometimes into fruitless & mischievous wars, and often compelling a submission to dishonorable terms of peace. And of what kind are the men that will strive for this profitable pre- eminence, through all the bustle of cabal, the heat of contention, the infinite mutual abuse of parties, tearing to pieces the best of characters? It will not be the wise and moderate; the lovers of peace and good order, the men fittest for the trust. It will be the bold and the violent, the men of strong passions and indefatigable activity in their selfish pursuits. These will thrust themselves into your Government and be your rulers. -And these too will be mistaken in the expected happiness of their situation: For their vanquished competitors of the same spirit, and from the same motives will perpetually be endeavouring to distress their administration, thwart their measures, and render them odious to the people."

I know it's a little long for todays short attention spans but bear with it.

Amen!We let them snooker us one more time. And the media and Democrat Party with the aid of the Republican Party that our votes, unless we vote the way the Democrat Party and media wants, does not mean shit. This lesson has been so plain that Stevie Wonder and Ronnie Milsap can see it and the dead can hear it.This leaves us with two options or choices:1 Go to your nearest Government Office and be fitted for your shackles and chains. Choice or option 2 does not have to be said. Everyone that has enough sense to get out of the rain knows what it is. If we had one tenth of the intestinal fortitude that our fore fathers had, we would not be in this mess.

Spot on. But it's noticed only by those paying attention, and even then, next election the choice will be between the lesser of two hypocrites.
