The presence of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) police officers on light-rail trains in the Twin Cities provoked unease among some passengers Wednesday. Several took to Twitter to express their dismay.
But Metro Transit said the DHS officers are part of a Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR) team working with its own police force to help ensure security on public trains and buses. The VIPR officers do not engage in any enforcement actions, and have worked with the department for “more than a decade,” said Metro Transit spokesman Howie Padilla.

I believe that the “sweeps” were conducted by ICE, not DHS.

Hell, be glad that DHS and other law enforcement agencies are guarding the light rail, subways, trains, etc. because they are prime targets for all types of extremists (witness the Japanese poison gas attacks in the subways years ago; the blowing up of British buses; attempted and real attacks on airplanes on the ground and in the air; trucks killing hundreds (including the attack that killed at least 4 in Westminster, England today, and the fact that Minneapolis is one of the leading US cities that supplies Al Shahab in Somalia with its jihadist terrorists and suicide bombers.
Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the light rail ride?
