Federal investigators and computer scientists continue to examine whether there was a computer server connection between the Trump Organization and a Russian bank, sources close to the investigation tell CNN.
Questions about the possible connection were widely dismissed four months ago. But the FBI's investigation remains open, the sources said, and is in the hands of the FBI's counterintelligence team -- the same one looking into Russia's suspected interference in the 2016 election.
One U.S. official said investigators find the server relationship "odd" and are not ignoring it. But the official said there is still more work for the FBI to do. Investigators have not yet determined whether a connection would be significant.
The server issue surfaced again this weekend, mentioned in a Breitbart article that, according to a White House official, sparked President Trump's series of tweets accusing investigators of tapping his phone. CNN is told there was no Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant on the server.
The FBI declined to comment. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.
In addition, companies involved have provided CNN with new explanations that at times conflict with each other and still don't fully explain what happened. The story -- of a possible connection between computer servers -- is a strange tale because there are no specific allegations of wrongdoing and only vague technical evidence.
Internet data shows that last summer, a computer server owned by Russia-based Alfa Bank repeatedly looked up the contact information for a computer server being used by the Trump Organization -- far more than other companies did, representing 80% of all lookups to the Trump server.
It's unclear if the Trump Organization server itself did anything in return. No one has produced evidence that the servers actually communicated.

Been mighty quiet.
Surely you’re not relying on VOX for your “garbage” assessment?
You’re behind the curve. The traffic analysis shows the communications, but that says nothing about who created it and what it was used for. Ever hear of wikileaks? The hack that was used to attempt to frame Trump is trivial vs. the tools we learned about this week.
Trolling the airwaves with headlines...hoping stupid Americans still only read headlines...
How is the FBI investigation into Hilary’s server, lost emails, disregarding mandatory security procedures and more, proceeding?? - or should I ask???
These mofos have let Obama and Hillary skate with being taken by the hand financially and intellectually by all
kinds of foreign influence, criminal gangs and pervs, but they go look up pings on Trump
server...
Activity done by the CIA/NSA? Wow, the CIA/NSA are interested in simple contact look-ups. (Hint assholes: this said Russia-based bank was not successful, since they had to keep on trying and trying and trying).
Not really, but Vox was the first to refute Hillary’s Oct 31 claim. The Spectrum/Cendyn/Listek or Listtech (not sure about the spelling) spam ads have been written about elsewhere.
shouldnt ValJar be defending her roomate Bathouse Barry yet?
Completely fake news. Where is the proof/evidence? Just like they asked Trump. That needs to be our question to EVERY fake news story. Where is the evidence? Without it it’s just fake news.
Dear 17 IC agencies,, How’s that investigation on the odd link between HRC’s illegal server and Danger’s laptop goin’?
There is a river in California named the Russian river. California is part of the United States. Donald Trump is president of the United States. Now, if that doesn’t prove a connection of Trump to Russia, I don’t know what would. I mean, what else do we need?
Not necessarily. The government’s initial request for an intelligence warrant was denied, but a second one was granted after being narrowed and focused, probably with new claims and facts added to justify concern and suspicion. Although the FISA court has been criticized for rarely denying search warrant applications, the same is true with other courts in regard to criminal and civil search warrants. These days, police, prosecutors, and judges are well-acquainted with the controlling legal principles, which have been made more definite in application by thousands of reported case law decisions in recent years.
They are vewy, vewy quiet...

What bullshit
Well done
Planted on Trump by globalist tractor moles in one of many agencies.
CNN needs to be declared a seditious organization.
Standards of evidence for criminal investigation are apparently very low. I suppose some so-called judge might support a wiretap based on such flimsy evidence but it's more likely the wiretapping was ordered the same way Fast and Furious and Lois Lerner were ordered. Just subversives doing the job they were hired to do. Possibly including Loretta Lynch and/or Comey.
I can’t believe I actually read the portion of the article that you excerpted.
Who is paying these people?
That’s our real, existential enemy.
There are a few companies that collect and sell large amounts of DNS lookups. You can too if you set up a DNS server and get people to use it. One company claims to have data for the majority (I forgot the exact percentage) of all DNS lookups.
